Best RV battery?

What is the best RV battery? My battery was low today, (used for 3 days) but only 1 or 2 lights and radio. I connected to the generator and ran it for 3 hours.
What is the best way to charge the battery?
I was told to disconnect the negative to maintain the battery, is this a good thing to do?

Our dealership put in a Interstate Deep Cycle Battery (http://www.interstatebatteries.com/c...|RVDeepCycle|3|). It has performed very well so far. Had it in since April when we purchased the TT, the longest it has sat with no charge was a three week period and it was 1/4 charged when i went to pick it up. I make sure to turn off the TV antenna amplifier. One of my next mods is to install a battery disconnect outside the box but im not 100% sure about the wiring. (if anyone has instructions that would be helpfull... trying to not hyjack the thread) I have read where some folks put in golf cart batteries??? not sure the brand or much about them though.

I have 4 Trojan T-125's in ours, we do a lot of dry camping. Very happy with their performance.

I have two 6v enegizer GC's that I picked up from Sam's club for $75.00 each. i too do a lot of dry camping and can run my inverter, lights, fridge and other things without issue. I run my genny for about an hour or two in the AM and again in the evening while cooking and they come back to full charge realtively quick. Needless to say I am very happy with the perfomance I have received from them.
The Trojan T 120 mentioned above are 6V as well and the caddilacs of batteries. At a cost of $185.00- $210.00 each I opted to give the Sam's a try and so far I am very pleased.

If you search this forum you will find specific threads of battery combos and brands from other members. The key component in any battery is lead. The heavier it is the longer you can draw on it.

I appreciate the info, I've been reading some about 2 sixes, How much trouble (for the average) are they to install. I'm fairly sure I have a Marine battery now. It was installed just before we purchased the camper.

IF you have the room pairs of 6's are your best option. They have more storage ability and longer life. I boondock almost 100% of the time.. and use the RV just like living in a house..

The best battery is one that will meet your needs. If one camps at full hookup CG's most of the time, then investing in a 100% deep cycle golf cart battery isn't needed, a hybrid deep cycle RV/Marine would be fine. On the other hand if you plan to boondock often, then IMO a 100% true deep cycle battery(s) would be a good investment. Brand is a matter of choice, I would just review their respective specifications for possible performance/construction differences.

If you leave your battery in your FW between camping trips (in lieu of removing it)..., then your correct, it's best to remove the negative cable connection from the battery. As far as maintaining a battery for long periods of time when not in use, I use one of these: http://batteryminders.com/batterycha...o-p-16134.html In my case I remove my batteries between camping trips (public storage facility) and keep them hooked up to the BatteryMINDer at home.

I wouldn't consider it a difficult project at all. As mentioned, the first hurdle is to confirm that you have the foot print for two batteries and no interferences. This is my (2)-6V upgrade: http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthread.php?t=2752

Here is my 6 Volt upgrade to my 2012 Eagle 321RLTS. It required raising the upper battery shelf 2".

When your looking at batteries if is has a CCA rating it IS NOT a deep cycle battery and stay away from it...
