We use the aluminum camp stove percolator too. But I must be doing it wrong. I put in the grounds and water, crank the burner up as high as it will go. After I see the brown liquid in the glass eye, I let it go a little longer and cut it off. It stays really hot for a very long time, so I usually ice it a little so I can drink it. When I gotta have my coffee, I'm not really interested in waiting for it...
If we didn't have the aluminum percolator (which is a holdover from my backpacking days) I'd use my french press. That thing makes some darned good coffee if you get good grounds. Sometimes on the weekends at home, we'll grind up fresh beans to put in the press... talk about mmm mmm good!
The old man uses a little Keurig in his MH, but I just can't bring my self to do that. It's still camping, so I like to "rough" it at least a little...

I have a 4-cup electric drip coffeemaker that I bought for my old trailer (not a whole lot of storage or countertop space). Now that I have more of both, I'll probably garage sale it and take my 12-cup drip household model on the road with me. I also have a 35 year old aluminum 4-cup stove-top percolator that I use when there's no electricity. I've used it on a hibachi, a charcoal grill, a Coleman stove, and both gas & electric burners. It does tend to boil over if you don't watch it carefully. Once I see steam coming out of the spout, I will typically move it about 1/2 off the burner to prevent the boil-over mess. It does take a long time to perk, but it makes some good joe! (1 tablespoon of grounds per cup of water, and just a little creamer, if you please.) When I'm traveling, I add a little Hershey's chocolate syrup to the thermos. I find that makes it easier on my stomach, and the sugar in the syrup gives me a little extra energy.

We have a keurig and a drip coffee maker that brews into a thermal carafe for when we have power. My wife like to have a cup of coffee in the afternoon or a decaf in the evening so the keurig is handy. When we don't have power I have a metal French press for coffee. We also find that the Starbucks via packets are really good.

For a good 'ol fashion stove top percolator I would highly recommend Cabela's 9-cup stainless coffee pot. We got one this past Christmas and love it. It is easy to use and can also go in the dishwasher. Planning to use it both for camping and at home during power outages. Our favorite coffee is Dunkin' Donuts ... regardless, it is important to use fresh coffee.
Fill pot to the 9-cup measure. When in doubt I use bottled water. Fit a paper filter in the basket and add 4 1/2 measures of ground coffee (1 measure = 1/8 Cup). Cook on high until it begins to perc (boil) then turn the heat to low for 5 minutes. If you prefer it lighter or darker adjust the time the coffee percs next time. It may take a few times to get it just right so be patient. The basic proportion is 1 scoop (1/8 Cup) of coffee to every 2 cups you make (i.e., water is measured on the mark on the coffee pot, not with a measuring cup).
To keep warm put in a Thermos and enjoy!

My wife and I do the Starbucks VIAs. Just heat up water and add a pack (or 2) of VIA to a cup. It's not bad IMHO... But then again, being from the Seattle area I don't think I will talk bad about a local company!

DW and I don't see eye to eye on coffee.....regular, decaf, strong, weak, flavored, black.
We used to take our Keurig but this year we bought a Hamilton Beach personal brew that takes K-Cups or ground coffee. Has a smaller footprint and accepts travel mugs.
It has an extremely hot brewing temp (which is preferred for better coffee flavor)...actually buckles the K-cup!
I'm going to experiment with Velcro to stick it in place on the counter top.

We have been using a Tassimo in the trailer, but after this weekend I'm starting to lean towards the Keurig that's at home. Maybe need to try different flavors for the tassimo.

I don't drink coffee but my wife does. She has a Keurig at home. On our two camping trips she has bought coffee at the CG store. She just bought a smaller Keurig to keep in the trailer....

Keurig single cup. We have a Coleman drip coffee maker that goes over an open flame, but I seem to use the Keurig all the time.

Just the opposite of Stevefayn ! We carry the Keurig along, but each nite I prep the Pyrex percolator before bed. First thing in the morning I turn on the stove, bring it to a boil and reduce it to simmer for about 5 minutes. That first cup of coffee tastes so good. It always reminds me of how beautiful each day of camping is. Rain or shine.

I didn't bother to read all the comments on this thread so my preferred method may have already been mentioned. I use a French press. I heat water to ~180 degrees in a stainless percolator pot with the basket removed. Makes as good a cup as you can find anywhere.
