Is Jayco Eagle worth the cost vs. Jay Flight?

2015 Eagle 314BDS vs 2014 Jay Flight 32BHDS

I was about to buy an Eagle for a pretty decent price. I hadn't really been looking at them as the prices were all pretty far above the Jay Flights of the same model. I found one in a state over and then found out that it had sold. The dealer said they could get me a good deal on a 2015 ordered how I want (second AC prep - 50amp service, value package, solid counter tops, hide-a-bed, electric stab jacks, electric tongue jack, bike/cargo rack, bumper grill, roof ladder). I figured it would be way over what I was looking at for a 2013 ($28k). For the 2015, they are asking $31k delivered to the west coast or $28k if I picked it up back east - I don't really want to make that drive.

So now, I have a bit of a decision to make. I can get the 2014 Jay Flight with everything for $25k which is what I have been looking at for a while, or spend $6k+ for the 2015 Eagle. I figure the Eagle will probably have a better resale value (hold up better), but I don't know about $6k. Not that resale is at the top of my list for buying or anything, but I do have to consider it a little. My main concern is what am I actually gaining for the $6k other than the Eagle name and fiberglass front/sides? Is it worth the cost to purchase the Eagle over the Jay Flight?

I posted this on RV.net, but I think this will be a better place to get this answer. Thanks for any help.

Personally, I'd stay with the Eagle. The fiberglass front and sides improve the appearance and durability over the metal sides making it a value. The frameless windows and option for thermal pane windows are an option on the Eagle also. Seeing as your SW, thermal pane would make sense.

I think I read here over the past few days that someone ordered a 2015 but found some of the standard items on the 2014 we're not standard on the 2015 any longer, so make sure you have a detailed list of items you expect, especially if you are looking at a 2014 for comparison to what you are ordering

We have an Eagle 2013, some of the extras that are on the 2014 would be nice to have on our 13, haven't seen what is new to the 2015.
As far as the quality of the Eagle I would definitely go with it. We have had it for almost the 2 years now and nothing to complain about. We had ours ordered to our specs and I thought about the resale and what we wanted and was glad we could do it our way.
Also just about all Jayco models are at the 2015 level so do you really want to by a model that is considered a year old now? Something to consider too.

FWIW. Jayco's marketing department put this out, but it looks like something a flamer would post. While somewhat disconcerting, you are looking at a Jayflight, so all the information you can gather is a must IMO.

We ordered our Eagle to order, and I'm guessing it was assembled in much the same manner. Maybe not. Either way, in over three years we've had zero defects beyond a pair of very minor corrections that we allowed to accumulate until shortly before the warranty expired.

We had our Jay Flight for two years, and it was just perfect. Never had a single issue with it. I would say that if you found one set up just the way you want it, go for it. I would bet you will be just as happy with it, and enjoy it just as much, as you would the more expensive Eagle. I doubt there is any difference in the quality of construction, just different materials. All the important, big items are the same, in terms of appliances, A/C, refrigerator, furnace, and such. If they had different standards for quality based on the price point, there would be serious issues with Jayco.

My daddy all ways told me to buy the best and I would never be unhappy with it. I just bought a new 2014 338 rlts Jayco Eagle and I have never second guessed my purchase decision. My wife and I are very happy with it. The Eagle is beautiful inside and out and doesn't look like a cheap camper and has all the bells and whistles. But I have to ask, how often are you going to use it? If often buy the Eagle. If not often then that's another matter. If you are going full time no doubt buy the Eagle.

Very simple. If you have a 3/4 ton TV or larger, go with the Eagle. I have one and love it. If your have a 1/2 ton gasser, buy the Jayflight. The Eagles are heavy with all the extra features but the quality of the Jayflight is every bit as good. A feller earlier mentioned re-sale of the Eagle would be better, true but who looks at depreciation when buying a TT...They all are hemorrhaging cash once you pull em off the lot.

I bought a 2014 Eagle fifth wheel last fall and it's really something. We got a great deal on our unit, but either way we would have bought the Eagle because we use ours steady for 6-7 months and that's what we wanted. I'm sure the other jayco products are good quality as well, it's all personal preference really. We enjoy ours and will stick with Eagle for many years to come I'm sure.

Thanks for all of the help. I ended up picking up the 2014 Jayco Jay Flight 32BHDS for $27162.11 out the door with the 14k# equal-i-zer hitch, 15k AC, Hide-a-bed, technology package, customer value package, power package, thermal package, electric stabilizers, aluminum wheels, roof ladder, etc. If I had waited and bought in the winter or bought back east, I might have gotten a better deal, but I think I did ok on the deal for the west coast. I think the $6-7k more for the Eagle will go to some other projects.

You probably made the best choice. We have an Eagle and the words Eagle and Quality really don't go together. Same flooring, same range, same refrigerator, furnace, inverter, AC, slides, - - - -. A plus for the Jay Flight is that the sides won't get bubbles and the front cap won't chalk up. We bought an Eagle because we wanted three slides.

Good luck with the Jay Flight I am sure you will have a lot of good times camping.
That doesn't sound like to bad of a deal for all that you got with it.

We really wanted the Eagle but it was heavier than the Jayflight and did cost a few thousand more. Have not regretted buying the 32BHDS.
