Dinette tweaks - making the sleep / eat conversion process easier (Part 2 of 2)

For Part (1).....follow this link.... http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthrea...-10-EVER-spent

Part (2) shows how installing a simple style between the dinette benches - takes the headache out of raising and lowering the legs through creating a pivot point. I covered all the bare wood styles in black felt to help eliminate damage to the edges of the table.....

What do you mean by style? Strip of wood? How did you affix it, with glue?

Yes - a wood strip (or large dowel in my case). I screwed into the ends of the dowel from inside the dinette benches.

The "Pivot Lock Latch Pins" are a great idea. Our table legs will try to fold an inconvenient times. Must keep my eyes out for some.

We had the same table and floor plan in our previous trailer. We left the table in the bed position and ate outside most of the time so we never had to convert it back and forth all the time. I remember how wobbly the table was and you certainly have the right plan for this. Good work.

We also have the same table and legs in 3butchers pic. Can you give a close-up shot to see how you fasten them?

Did you just screw it from the sides or did you also screw it into the wall near the mid point. Just curious as the table is a bit heavy and was thinking a mid point might add a bit more support.

Any issues or is it working out good?

Screwed in only from the ends. The weight is out near the ends / edges and I haven't noticed any flex. Works awesome in conjunction with the leg brace locks.

No issues! Highly recommended!

Thanks Threebutchers for the awesome idea!

I followed your directions exactly and it works great in our new 184BH. I too used a dowel. Our hardware store didn't have the latch pins, but Amazon did!

This just makes it so much easier to deal with converting the table.

I'm not especially "handy" and the only tricky part for me was drilling through the metal brace with the 9/32 bit. You have to be careful because the diameter of the hole is pretty large in relation to the width of the brace, so you have to be careful to place it just right so there is enough space on either side of the hole to maintain strength in the brace. But I was careful and it worked out great.

Thanks again for such detailed and helpful instructions. Now I'm going to look at your other mods for additional ideas...
