Bathroom vanity countertop peeling - covered under warranty?

Hi everyone,

We've used our Jayco X17Z over 20 nights this season after buying it new earlier this year. So far it's been fantastic and we've had a couple of minor issues.

We noticed the countertop in our bathroom vanity is peeling back past the caulking. My guess is that with showers and moisture, water got behind the caulking and is causing the damage.

Is this something I should just try and fix myself or see if it's covered under Jayco's warranty? I'd love to have a single piece countertop (if possible) instead of the laminate cover on top of wood, which is peeling.

- Scott

Yes it definitely should be covered under warranty.

I think the best type of material for counter tops in wet areas is Corian. If you have a saw and a router for the edges you can make your own in just a few hours. Corian cuts like any hard wood and use a jig saw for the sink cut out. If you don't want to do it yourself then have one made, your only talking 4sq. feet of material or just 2 lineal feet of stock.Check the cabinet shops in town some will have cut-off pieces left over from other jobs that are just taking up space in their shop.
Your from Boston so I bet you have at least 20 shops to chose from.

Thanks. I'll have the dealer I bought it from either fix it (hopefully under warranty) or look into replacing it with a solid piece counter.
