Water Shut Off ?

Does anyone shut off they're water before going to bed? If so, do you go outside to shut it off or did you install a valve inside.

Thinks!

We leave our water on except for when we go on a day trip. Heard about a camper who came back to a flooded trailer. But be sure to use a pressure regulator. We put a 55psi max one on our to increase water flow....manual says that much is okay for our trailer so you should check yours to see what your plumbing can tolerate. Some only allow 40psi. Happy RVing.

Same here, always on. Sometimes if we leave for the day, we turn it off at the tap as a precaution.

I only use a regulator if the RV park is serviced from it's own well w/ unknown pressure. City water serviced parks should be regulated to support RV use.

I will shut off the supply faucet or water pump (if boondocking), and water heater if we leave for the day.

BTW, when you use a regulator, be sure to install it between the faucet and your FW hose (to protect the hose and your RV).

If I'm leaving the CG, I turn off the (city) water (or water pump if using the FWT) and whatever heater (gas or electric) I'm using for the HWT. I once had a check valve fail on the FWT of my Coleman pop-up which allowed the city water to back-up into the FWT until it overflowed out of the filler on the side. Some of the water made it's way to the floor of the pop-up. When I arrived back, I had a gusher coming out of the filler and water flowing from under the stepper door.

...You learn...

In a perfect world but not in reality. The city water pressure is determined by many things but it is always higher the closer you are to the water works or pump station. We have been in cg's where they sold you a pressure gauge if you did not have one and warned you in writing that the city pressure was 105 psi.

norty1, I too, have seen that. A park I have been to which had municipal water supply. At check in the hand you park map. In bold letters they state: WARNING! Water pressure is 90 PSI.

I shut ours off at the spigot if we're going to be gone for the day. At home I shut it off with the valve located in the wall where it enters the house if we're leaving for overnight. I really need to shut off the pump instead, as we've had two pressure tanks fail, one rupture and one pin size leak, in the crawl space over 25 years.
