Jay Flight 287BHSW- is Underbelly important?

Looking to buy this Jay Flight 287BHSW this weekend. It's our first RV... we are pretty limited in our options as we are pulling with a SUV (so we have a weight limit) and need double bunks and a shower only (no tub) as my husband is 6'4 and can't stand in the shower tubs. This is a difficult combination to find but we did find it in the Jay Flight 287BHSW. This is the "Stripped Down" version of JAYCO as the sales guy calls it. We are actually ok with that as we don't think we care about having the TV, DVD players, automatic leveler and some of the other bells and whistles that won't be included in this model. The one thing we are a bit nervous about is that it doesn't have the Underbelly. Does anyone have thoughts or advice on a RV that doesn't have this? We want to make sure we aren't selling ourselves short just to save a few dollars up front. Thanks for your help!

Either way. I like my TT with underbelly as it keeps the road crud out.
But unless you camp in below freezing temps, probably not needed for the cold.
If you really want an underbelly on this one, you can buy the corugated plastic (coroplast) at Home Depot or Lowes along with some self tapping screws and install it yourself.

X2, people have been camping without enclosed underbellies for decades with no problems except in Winter conditions. If you aren't going to camp in below freezing temps I wouldn't worry about it to much. Not having it has the advantage of being able to fix stuff that may go wrong underneath easily compared to having to drop the cover first. I do Winter camp every season and haven't had a problem with or without down to 17 degrees except for the city water hose freezing up. Newer units such as the Eagle circulate hot air from the heating system through the enclosed underbelly supposedly to keep things from freezing up. I only have one year experience with this and didn't have a problem, but I didn't have a problem before without the enclosed underbelly.
