Question Outdoor Shower

Okay, can anybody tell me how to access the outside shower without a key? When I bought this, they didn't have a key for any of the doors or hatches. They ordered the keys for the three main doors (Cabin door and two Maxi-stor doors for bunkhouse), and I'm going to pick up new locks for the cargo hatches up front. Just realized, while trying to figure out turn signal problem, that we don't have a key to the outdoor shower on the rear of the unit! My wife was really looking foward to this feature, and I don't wanna tear up the access door to get at the shower. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Guess I learned my lesson about buying a TT from a dealer who wasn't part of the Jayco network!:lightning:

On our Jayco (if I remember correctly), the same key fits all outer storage doors and its external shower door. And, there's only 6 (or so) different cut keys. With this in mind, perhaps it might be best to remove the lock from an existing door and take the lock to your RV dealer. Ask them to try many differert keys inside your provided lock. If one of their keys fit, you can use it to cut another. Then, dip that newly cut key in paint. Rust paint works best. When you want access to the external shower door, simply use that painted key.

If wondering, Jayco doesn't make the lock. They purchase off a market re-seller. Many RV makers buy "lots of locks" off the market re-seller. Thus, any RV dealer (even if they don't sell Jaycos) might have they key - that fits your provided lock. (assuming the same key fits in the external shower door as well).

Hope this helps...

Our keys for storage and shower are all keyed alike.

Just an additional comment... those buying new Jayco's should check the hose on that shower to see if it's crimped where it meets the tt. Ours was crimped so bad the water wouldn't flow. The dealer installed a 90 degree angle to attach the hose to and now the water flows well

My key for the outside storage compartments and the outside shower has worked in every trailer and 5th wheel I have tried no matter what the brand.
Unless your shower lock has been changed you should have no problem finding a key - just ask your neighbor in the campground.

Normally the key to the shower and storage doors is a CH751. Ask any RV dealer and he should have them in stock.

My front pass through storage compartment shares the same key as my outside shower. My rear large cargo door shares the same key as the one for my bathroom door.

I am like tafische on my 2011. A ch751 key opens the shower. I know from past experiences that this is a common key and you should be able to find one. If not at the dealer try any hardware or small engine store. A ch751 starts many small riding mowers. Hope that helps.

our dealer warned us of the common 751 key when we picked up our trailer. It appears very easy to gain access to the trailer via the front storage area. Just slide in and pop the bed open. Might have to install new locks...

I think that was the first time that thought was posted here! I have a pretty hard time lifting that bed from the inside though as we have that heavy topper on our bed. Not to say it still can't be compromised for nefarious reasons though

Y'all are right, is a CH751 lock. Will be going to RV Store tomorrow and buying new locks for the cargo doors and shower. Was able to 'pop' shower access door very easily though, so gonna flush the entire fresh water system this evening and then sanitize. Probably head to a state park this weekend and flush the grey/black water systems and see how easy all of the hook-ups are! Thank everyone for their help!!!

Nefarious.....great word! Definately not used enough in casual conversation.

I would suggest getting locks from somewhere other than an RV store since there is a good chance their locks are also keyed alike and there will be others who will have your new key. When I got the Lear 100R shell with tool boxes on the side for my truck (yeah, I'm bragging), the first thing I did was to go to a locksmith and buy a pair of replacement locks with the barrel type keys. Not many people are going to have that key, they are much harder to pick, and are pretty much impossible to pop with a slide hammer puller. The doors are steel and have two 1/4" steel rods securing the the doors at each end and a 1/8" plate that swings down in the center to further secure the door. Even if a crook (I have better names but Mama told me not to use them) took a wrench or pipe to the t-handle, that door isn't opening until the lock is opened. At the very least, I'll replace all the compartment locks and turn latches on my TT (once I buy it) with barrel locks with beefed up strikers, then beef up the doors. Anyone who wants in will have to work hard for it (which should give me plenty of time to find something heavy if I happen to be in the area).

Save your $$ on the shower lock.. I got a new lock for mine but after looking at the way they are set up it looks like too much work to replace that for the tiny amount of gain... I doubt anyone will mess with that.. dirty burglars dont normally take showers..
