window crank replacement

The rear window jalousie crank handle has broken off- I can't remember how to replace the gear box- I know it is riveted in place- I know it is at least a 6 pack job- How does one get the gear box out without bending the rod that goes from the gear box to the other side of the window? HELP !!!!! I prefer to plan this out rather than just jump in- All replies appreciated- THANX in advance for all opinions-

You might check YouTube for a video on this. It's amazing what info you can find there sometimes!
