Ford changed to 5w30 in 2016. 2015 and older uses 5w20 blend. That being said, we sell ALOT of 0w20 as well.

Not to continue to drag this thread off topic, but I stumbled upon this discussion on accident. This 5W20/5W30 topic was hashed to death over at another forum I'm active in. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford went back to 5w30 on the V10s. When my truck was new (early 1999) the original owner's manual specified 5w30, it was only later that they revised their recommendation to run 5w20. I'm currently running 5w20 in my truck but I don't think 5w30 would hurt either. I find 5w20 convenient though since that is also what my wife's car uses. So I just buy Motorcraft 5w-20 for both vehicles.

As far as engine life, there is an invidual on that other forum that services a fleet of E-350 V10 vans (airport shuttles I believe) and he has many that have close to or over a millions miles with only oil changes and normal servicing. Comparatively my V10 is barely broken in with just over 90k miles on it (all without a single blown plug), but I'm sure the V10s in your motorhomes are always working harder since most of my miles are with an empty truck.

Personally I love my V10, even if it is an early 2 valve version. A diesel would pull better, but I have almost the same amount of torque and more horsepower than the same year powerstroke. I'll admit I would prefer a diesel when I'm towing especially above 6000 feet, but my truck sits a lot and diesels don't like that, the V10 can sit for months and fire right up every time. That's what makes it a great engine for motorhomes IMO if you aren't a full timer.

I also can't find anyone to change the oil, so thanks much for the video!
I have a 2016 E450 Super Duty V10 and it is listed to use 5-30, my last rig used 5-20

2015 Precept 31UL Easy Oil Change Tip:
> Use your Hydraulic Front Jacks to increase the distance between the Front Axel and the oil pan. Plenty of room to put a 5 inch deep catch pan for used oil. Just set the pan on top the axel, remove drain plug, there you go. (Oil Filter FL-820S is a no brainer)
> New oil, Method #1 get a fluid pump on a hose. Method #2 (better) get your oil in quarts (5w-20), put the nozzle of oil on lip of fill tube, start to level out the quart, eventually pull down some on the "flexible" fill tube with the qt neck fully into the tube.
> P.S. Oem Oil is 5w-20 Motorcraft Synthetic Blend

I hate to beat this viscosity thing to death but I own a 2016 Greyhawk 29MV E450 / V10 and my manual recommends 5W-20 on page 202 and then on page 203 recommends 5W-30. Also Canada and Mexico shows a different spec oil than the US. So which is it? Is anybody seeing this in their manual? If either grade is is OK, which is best? Any opinions?

My Chassis is Ford F-53 Motorhome. (Precept 31UL)
Source of viscosity is from Fords Chassis Manual. (ford.com).
I received the chassis manual (book) when I bought the motorhome.

The Ford Chassis manual is what I was looking at also. I guess my manual is giving me some options. The filler cap is also showing 5W-30. So I am going with the 5W-30 in either Mobile 1 or Castrol Edge full synthetic and doing it myself.

My two cents:
- filler cap
- Mobil-1 Synthetic

And - IMHO - there's not that much difference between 5W-20 and 5W-30 in the synthetics that I'd lose sleep over it.

Just buy good oil and good filter and keep the changes on schedule.

That's what I think

I see on Page 244 of Ford's 2015 E-350/450 Manual that they want 6qts of 5w20. ("Full Synthetic will be my option after warranty is up")

The 2016 E-350/450 Manual want's 5w-30 <<< Must have changed something in the engine to change specs. Do the 5W-30 on your 2016..

My V-10 is a 7qt on the F-53.
General rule if you have options (In My Opinion). I live in northern state where extended heat is not an issue. If I lived say Gulf states or desert west, I would consider the 5w-30.
It's that same premise with fuel octane. The Higher the elevation the lower you can go. Ratings for octane are based at Sea Level. A car needing 87 can/should run 85 in Denver and other high "low oxygen" areas
