My '12 greyhawk 31SS did not come with a spare. I think it's a weight issue to increase CCC. Jayco says it's a liability issue. Whatever, I put a spare on a rim and carry it in my rear storage compaetment. I don't plan to change it myself, that's what good Sam is for, but I always want to have a spare available.

So the rim and tire mounted and it fits in the rear compartment with room to spare. Now just got to figure out where to go in a couple weeks for the first trip. Driveway shakedown camping trip scheduled for this weekend

Spare Tire is definitely a must! I learned my lesson.
Some times we like to travel during the night, traffic congestion is less.
On one 1300 km roundtrip 2 Flats with brand new Michelins. One during midnight. When returning from destination I thought well get it fixed at home. What a mistake!
Got another flat half way the trip at 7 PM on top of a mountain pass. Lucky a trucker took me to town (75 Km) to call a tire shop after hours. Within 3 hours I was on the road again after $375 The problem was a batch of defect rubber tire valves (failed when heating up). If I had that spare fixed I would have made it home. It where the only flats on the road in my 54 years of driving. My own tire shop replaced the ruined tire. Having a spare is a must for me! Having at fixed at first opportunity...... definitely!

Yes, my 3100SS has lots of room in the back storage compartment. I would rather have that weight further forward, but without fixing up something underneath to attach it to the frame I don't know how to do that.

Ok, so here's another question. Roadside brings a tire to you..... Do you pay for "this" tire (new/used) ? or do they give it to you out of the goodness of their hart ?

Also, I'm looking at a fold down spare tire carrier Hitch. Anyone have one ?

I put my spare tire with cover and all under my 198RD right behind the rear axle's. Valve face down for easy access. Used some old steel bed frame's and treaded rods, four bungees crisscross and its out the way. Mind you also has drilled a few holes in the cross members to fasten it too. It is still higher than the bottom of the axle'. And yes also painted it nice black. Always carry a coverall with me, but with rain removal of the spare from its rack most certainly will feel wet.

They will require you to pay for it. The "service" part of Road Service, does not include free tires or even gas. Most will bring you a gallon.

I bought my rv new, from a Jayco dealer. Before purchase i told them a spare tire was a must. The dealership said they could not sell it to me, but they were really quick to call the local commercial tire shop and have a new matching (Michelin) tire mounted on used, matching rim. The tire shop billed me directly. It worked for me. Seems like the cost was around $250
