Firestone Transforce HT tires

Greenenvy1, thanks for all the updates on Firestone HTs and Ats. I too am looking at these tires. I currently have Michelin's on my Dodge 2500, but for a number of reasons I am looking at replacing with one of the Firestones. Since you have ran both for many miles, would you go with the HTs or ATs? It's interesting on the Firestone website, the HT is rated as "Best in Class" by it's customers and living in Tennessee I see a lot more HTs on trucks. Thanks.

I prefer the ATs. I run in a kinds of weather and the HTs once nearing end of life are crap in the rain or snow. The ATs even once almost worn out still provide decent traction. If I never saw snow I would likely run the HTs. Price wise there are always within a few bucks of each other.

Thanks! Not much snow in TN...two or three events a year with a couple inches. That might explain why HTs run 10:1 to the ATs. My tire is a LT245/70/17 and the HTs are running (special thru September 2014) $133 for HTs vs $150 for ATs. Thanks again for the advice....still my go with ATs for few times I'm off road in fields and wet grass.

I run LT Firestone TransForce tires on my truck and travel trailer. Seems to be a great tire to me.

I am glad to hear Firestone is making good tires again especially after all the problems from 10 - 15 years ago. I drive a big truck and have had really good success with Bridgestone (same company). The company I lease the truck to doesn't allow Firestone tires because of all the past problems. I can buy the cheapest piece of China crap tire in the World and it's ok, but I can't buy Firestone. Go figure.

Greenenvy1, last question...highway road noise is about the same for the AT vs HT? I assumed the AT, being an all terrain, would sing. Thanks again for sharing your opinion based on your miles of experience.

Never noticed a difference in noise, thought i would.
No pics in my files of the HTs but here is a good shot of the ATs with 0 miles. Second pic is 6 new ATs ready to get installed!

kopoticjd, don't know what kind of TV you are driving, but if you have a diesel, it will certainly drown out any extra road noise the AT's will have over the HT's.

wwsmith, I also was hard to sell on Firestones after the past problems, but I went ahead and bought them anyway. That set lasted over 50,000 miles with a good amount of tread still on them but since I haul my grandkids to the campground frequently, went ahead and bought my second set of AT's and I expect I will get the same good service from them as well.

I put some on my truck last month. So far they are no different from the Michelins who out priced my business.
