Outside shower water flow

Our outside shower water flow leaves a lot to be desired; that is, it flows w/ just enough water and pressure to barely rinse off dry sand, let alone take some sort of outside shower. I am wondering if this is normal for these outside showers or there is something I can do to improve its flow. The flow inside the trailer is satisfactory, at least for our needs. We do use the city water connection for our water supply and one of those brass $10 regulators at the faucet.

Thanks,

Mike

I would think you should have the same water pressure throughout the rig. I have the same trailer and the outside shower is plumbed right at the bathroom sink, so there should be little difference in water pressure. I would remove the cheapie regulator and see if that helps. I used one of the Camco regulators once and it completely shut off the water, so I threw it away and ordered a Watts regulator. It's also possible that you have the same reduced pressure at the kitchen sink, but it happens to be enough for that use. I'd remove the regulator first and see what happens. If you still have a substantial difference in pressure, let the dealer check it out. There are seals, seats, etc in the faucets can be incorrectly installed and you may have a defective shower unit. The advantage of trying all of this first is that it removes the possibility of the dealer shrugging it off as "normal". If it's not right for you, then it's not right.

Remove the shower hose at the camper and there may be a screen there that is dirty.

We had low pressure in our shower. Installed an Oxygenics Body Spa showerhead we got for $30 at Camping World. Apparently, it injects air into the process and you get a noticeable improvement in spray power. There's not more water coming out, but it goes where you want it to go, as opposed to dripping out of the head. Might help, if it can fit into your outside shower "closet" space.

The flow from my outside shower head is pretty weak too, while the rest of the plumbing system pressure is fine. I'm wondering if there might be a flow restricter at the shower head. I'll check mine next time I'm out there.

Decent place to do business and they seem to be very knowledgable about water pressure and filtration systems.

I`ve noticed the flow is weak on my outside shower as well, with or without the regulator. Pressure is adequate on all inside fixtures. Maybe its just the nature of the beast?

It could be plastic debri in your outside shower plumbing. Take off the hose and see if it is still restricted.

We tried ours on our maiden voyage to make sure it worked. We had good water pressure and it worked fine. It was a major pain in the *cough* to put back though! The nozzle and hose fits in there realllllllllllllllly tight!

Thanks for all the replies. I will take off the hose and try to check it for debris restriction, and also w/o the cheapo regulator, next time out.

The hose and shower are even harder to get in the compartment when its cold out. The hose becomes very stiff and hard to work with. My last trip out I was having a hard time getting it in the compartment so I left it thinking I would try again later. Well later never came, I forgot to put it back in and it dangled the whole way to the CG, about 40 miles!. Luckily it was not damaged. I should have done my usual walk around before leaving, but did not this time for some reason.

Hey at least it was only the shower hose. The other day my wife saw a trailer driving through Parker Az headed for Quartzsite with the steps down.
