First Time Boondocking on Beach

So, I've dreamed about boondocking on the beach for a while now and think I'm ready for it.

Looking at heading to Port Aransas, TX. More specifically, Padre Island National Seashore.

I'm in a Seneca motorhome and wonder if anyone knows how difficult it is driving on the sand. Also, do you use your stabilizing system (Bigfoot) in the sand?

Just trying to avoid the $1000 tow out of the sand or watching the RV getting flooded at high tide. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

First 1-2 miles of shore pretty good as it get lots of traffic. After that it can getssoft. We visited this summer and we determined that camping on the national sea shore was not for us. We do plan on camping on the beach after Thanksgiving but it will be around marker 60 at Port Aransas. Beaches maintained and if a problem always someone to pull you out. Fishing ok as well. Closer to Port A. If anything needed. We take our Golf Cart and their allowed on the Port A beaches but not on the National sea shore. No charge for port A beaches in this area. Only a beach parking permit, $12 yearly, for other areas. National sea shore I think $10 or so daily..we are free with senior pass.
Bring 2x6 or better pieces for bottom of stabilizers.

A good place to take out an automatic transmission? Google "RV crashes" I'm sure you will run in to beach camping. When you're young you want to have fun.......go for it. You might run in to a costly experience!

I would worry more about the salt water corrosion from being that close to the water...

I never really liked being parked right on the Ocean or Gulf. Too much in the open for my liking. Seems like when I did it on the Atlantic side I had traffic up and down the coast line all night long...

We would much better be more inland maybe nestled under some tree cover and still get the ocean noises and smells... There is just too many crazies out there for us to be in middle of the local ocean traffic pattern...

One of my ocean spots is in Brookings, Or. It's about 100' from the water and you can cook on the beach. You hear the waves and listen to the harbor entrance bell at night when the waves make it ring. It's not the best park but it's right on the water. Tunce loves running on the beach and her open flame steak at sunset and I have fresh Salmon or roasted oysters with a micro brew or two. This pic is from 2 weeks ago and now were in So. Cal. At Pismo Beach.

The fresh water stream at Pismo Beach this afternoon and she's in the water for hours. The RV Park is to the extreme right just over the sand and we just walk to the fresh water and the ocean is about 250' to the left.

We love Pismo. Stayed hundreds of nights at PCV and North Beach SP right next door.

You'll love the coast and never want to leave and in Feb. you get the Pacific storms with the waves crashing on the rocks that's quite a sight to see.

What about seeing the view from the other side by hiring a tug boat with barge? You would be surprised how many beach goers will take pictures. Don't you want to be a kid again and take on a challenge. So far I have seen the RV's on beaches from Ferries. What a wonderful world to travel the beauty of nature in peace.
