Trailer Fire Video

My fellow campers. This trailer fire video scared the crap out of me.
Now that camping season is starting again I will teach my kids how to get out safely and quickly should a fire start.
Tomorrow I am going to get two more fire extinguishers and putting them in different ends of my 26BH.
It seems that speed is what can save lives in this type of situation.

Do yourself and your family a favour...if a fire starts get out, don't even think about reaching for the fire extinguisher. It's only a trailer and it's not worth risking your life for.

Personally, I would put a couple glass break hammers under each mattress or mounted in an easy to reach location. I have one in each of my vehicles, none in my trailer, but it is a HTT, and we sleep in the canvas bunk ends, so not very helpful. There are a number of different types, but you need a pointed tip hammer to work efficiently for anyone to use it. Here is a video of a nail punch looking type.

I was also thinking of the glass break hammers. I have one in my TV and will definitely get a few more.
I agree that the best way is to get out.
Fire extinguisher only works if its a small fire starting out before it reaches momentum.

I felt uncomfortable seeing that firefighter kneeling in front of the propane tanks. Doesn't matter if they were told they were empty or not. Like a gun, you just assume they're loaded. Our last forest fire not started by the Forest Service was a result of an exploding propane tank.

You can tell from the audio and video that the fire was rapidly spreading due to the heavy winds. If you watch the smoke, it is traveling almost horizontal. there was nothing a fire extinguisher or three were going to do to battle this fire. "Get out..stay out"!!!!
