MPG with Wind at Back - Excellent

Just bought a trailer last night (2014 Jayco Jay Flight 32BHDS). Before this trailer, I had a 31ft Class C. I have had 5 boats from 18ft to 28ft. This trailer tows better than all of those put together.

I was driving from Temecula, CA to Phoenix, AZ yesterday/night and when I got onto the first freeway I was getting 8.8mpg. Then when I got onto the I10, the wind was at my back and wow was I getting great mileage. I went up to 20.2mpg towing the trailer at 60mph. I was expecting to be pushed all around the road by every truck like the Class C, but barely knew they were next to me. Literally, I had a couple of trucks pass me and I didn't know they were there until they came past my window - I was paying attention, but didn't really care what was passing at the time.

I was nervous to let my wife drive the Class C. Not that she couldn't, but we just never got around to needing it. She drives the boat trailer around at the launch better than most guys - lots of practice in the parking lot. I still want to weigh everything to make sure I don't kill my tires, but overall I think the dealer that installed the hitch did a great job.

Yep, a nice tail wind is always welcome......, in some cases I can get another 2 MPG with my TV/TT combo towing on the flats.

Sun on your shoulders and wind at your tail, that's a great evening. Congrats on the new trailer

It does exist, I promise it's not just a myth. I had my first good tail wind last weekend; it was beautiful.

As soon as "global warming" is over we will have tail winds again. Or is that another myth?
