Factory tours

Wondered if the factory tour would be worth the 13 hour drive.. I love to see thing being built and really love the Jayco. Thinking about heading there to see it on 50 th bday.

Any tour of a manufacturing facility is worth the effort - says the 35 year veteran manufacturing rat.

You won't see every plant, just one of several near the welcome center. We went in March and luckily toured the Pinnacle / Eagle Premier 5th wheel plant - good for us. If your into reading some if the history about a Jayco, the welcome center is worthwhile. The video before the tour tell a neat story about the family.

A drive around the area seeing just how many RV's are produced is eye opening. A meal at Essenhaus is pretty good.

With a 13 hour drive, I'd make it a side trip to a camping vacation. Maybe a few days of winery tours on the eastern coastline of Lake Michigan or an amusement park like Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH?

X2. Being that we live only a couple hours away from there in West Michigan, we will often do a day trip to northen Indiana just to have lunch at the Essenhaus. West Michigan has a lot to offer as said above and I personally like the Traverse City area and the U.P., although if your are a coaster fan, its hard to beat Cedar Point (and they have an awesome campground), but its another 3-4 hours from the Jayco factory...

The tours are informative and unless things have changed you can also do the MH plant, but that requires an appointment.

That is exactly what we did last summer, we spent a long weekend at CP and then hit the Jayco factory on the way home. I have been on the tour twice now, but would go again in a heartbeat.
