Hello,

I have a 36 FS and when I plug in the electrical cord to a land line it takes several minutes for the power to start working in the coach. Anybody have this problem?

Welcome to JOF

Your coach may have an EMS (Energy Management System), if so it will go through a series of checks before letting the power source reach your breaker/fuse panel.

I have an EMS in my TT and the initial delay lasts for about 3 minutes. The delay also protects the A/C unit in the event of a power outage with a sudden return of power.

Do you know where the unit is located. Most of my stuff is under the master bed. So from what you said I should just wait it out each time? It seems like it used to not take near as long to show up. I am afraid that it might be going out and will leave me without power.

Jim,

I would contact Jayco Customer Support directly (have your VIN handy) and ask them if your coach is equipped with a EMS...., also mention the shore power delay issue. If they state that your coach doesn't have any OEM device that delay's initial shore power start-up, then other possibilities have to be discussed.

I doubt if Jayco put on the surge protection. Probably was an owner install and mine is behind the breaker panel/inverter. Mine makes a pretty good pop when it kicks in so if you are inside after the 2-3 minute delay, you should hear a definite pop and 110 power would kick in. A good way to tell is plug in something into a 11o circuit such as a fan or light and you will see when it comes on.

Your probably correct (or an EMS installed by others)....., but with all the standard upgraded electronics on a Seneca 36 FS motorhome, and not being personally familiar with their standards/options, I thought Jayco would be a good starting point.

What will be interesting is if it's determined there isn't an EMS installed on the coach, but yet the OP has experienced some degree of delay throughout ownership. The OP hasn't mentioned if he purchased the Seneca used.

All you have to do is watch your microwave and you will know when power is received, you don't have to have anything else plugged in.
