Unhappy Water Damage

My husband was working on our Jay Flight 25RKS this morning and noticed a slit in the plastic under the frame next to the tires. He opened it up and the insulation was wet and so was the wood. He took out the wet insulation and ripped off the plastic so the wood could dry. It is very humid now and don't know how long it will take to dry. He will have to replace the insulation and put some plastic back. Has anyone had this problem? He thinks the water got in the slit when we were driving in rain.

Has anyone had to replace the plastic under the frame?

Check with your local RV dealer, they may have a roll in stock and cut you off a piece. There is a special type of black contact tape that can be used to attach the new piece, see if the dealer has that as well. It also can be stapled in place.

see my post under "Leak, Slide Problems, Cosmetic Issues; Warranty Expired, What Should We Do?" We have a jayco 31rks and the black was sagging and insultation wet b/c of water leak, so check it out closely.

The water was in the back 1/3 of the trailer. I know when we were traveling last time my son-in-law was in back of us and said a lot of water was coming out of our tank - probably from sloshing around. It could have gotten up under the slit in the plastic - who knows. We will wait and see when it dries (if it ever does with this humid weather). We bought this unit used two years ago (it is a 2007) and haven't had any problems with it.
