Ummm, I've tried all these things; and actually tried all the other combinations - just in case I'm misreading the keyway. If the weather ever lets up I'm gonna test for 12V with a meter.

I first used the above autozone flasher (LL552) then upgraded it to another "Best" flasher, $11. Neither worked.

I'm guessing that I either have a too loose connection or no power - for whatever reason.

OK I braved the elements and found that I have no 12V at the plug (I checked all pins, just in case). Then I verified that I do have working 12V lights inside the trailer.

When I opened the battery compartment I found one 30A fuse - it was fine. Separately I found a single black wire tied into the positive battery terminal ...

?which I assume is the other end? Are there any hidden in-line fuses?

Great Cheap Mod.

I picked up a Novita 552 flasher for $2 and it worked right away. Made up a jumper and it worked great also. Thanks fellow campers!! Cool Cheap mod.

Not sure how long the 552 will last as it says its rated for only 4 bulbs. It does flash slow, like a heavy duty flasher.

WRASCAL - If you have been randomly shorting out all the other possibility I can almost assure you a fuse has got blown somewhere. Now your SAFETY LIGHTS will not work when you hook them back up to the truck trailer connector. You need to get things back to normal again and in working order... The #4 blade/socket will have 12VDC on it either coming from the trailer battery or the truck battery when the ignition key is on.

The only SOCKETs you should have been playing with is the #3 and #4. These are the two sockets separated by the raised key on the trailer connected that is connected to the trailer side that plugs into the truck 7-way connector.

Holding the 7-way connector coming from your trailer in your hand will look similar to this photo...

This is the 7-way trailer plug end like shown in this photo

Here is another view showing the trailer end of the 7-way connector plug

I think you better get everything back to normal working condition with the trailer cable connected to your truck and make sure all of the safety lighs on the trailer is working normal...

Running out of ways to explain it haha...

I thought thru this before I attempted all connections. There's only two connections that can do anything: power (4) to pins 3 or 6. Neither light lite up. Attempting to connect the other combos will do nothing/hurt anything.

I'm thinking my black power line is open somewhere, either with a fuse or bad connection. I'll chase it down once the weather turns sunny.

I'm glad others are now able to enjoy this.

Hey Roy, thanks for the beautiful diagrams. I bought a cheap flasher and got out the solder gun and soldered a couple 12 volt wires to the flasher and a couple clips on the other end. Just plug it in and it all works fine.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to all.

Tis the Season to be Jolly, so am bringing this thread back to life.

Merry Christmas.

Although I was never able to get my lights flashing (and I've not come across any errors with normal driving lights and/or battery disconnects, etc., I've decided that perhaps my trailer plug is looser than others and so I'm not getting a good connection to the flasher unit. As everything works while on the truck connector I'm leaving it alone.

In the CG we're at most the trailers are flashing, so to set ours apart we crank the stereo up real loud. When walking around at night it's so hard to find out trailer, but with the outside speakers blareing it's much easier. We also have a 6500W contractors generator that we use to run the lighs. for some reason we keep bellowing the braker fusse. The generader helps big time.
What puzzles me though is sometimes we come back to the trailer and we have a flat tire on it. I've checked all the valve stems and they seem good. Probably take the trailer to an RV shop and have them check it out.

I would check for knife punctures in the sidewalls. Unfortunately, those can't be fixed. You'll have to buy new tires.

Well played. Poorly spelled... but well played!

I don't have my lights flash, but I have been known to leave my running lights on the first night at a campground. When walking the dogs and unfamiliar with the park, it can be difficult to remember where your rig is. Having running lights on makes it easier to spot. I don't leave them on when I go to bed though.

Well, since everyone has brought this thread back to life, I just want to say thank you very much for the diagrams you posted. Gives me a much better understanding of the trailer to truck wiring hookup. I'm just a wannabe electrician so I try to be very careful around that stuff. But that hookup worked fantastic and was easy to accomplish. Thanks again. Going to drill the walls soon and add another satellite tv hookup. Just trying to figure out where the danged stud in the wall is!

How about a flashing strobe light on the roof?

I like to hit the panic button on my truck alarm when I'm ready to return to my campsite. Sold the contractor genny and bought a Honda. The latest thing seems to be the lazer light show devices that are sold late at night on tv. I get even by walking the dog back and forth on those loops and watch the lights inside the rv come on after the 2 dogs bark their brains out for 3 or 4 minutes every time I walk ever so slowly by, lap after lap.

Unless you are at a group hug with like minded groupies, you might just forgo all the flashing lites and lazer light shows. Kind of the same as the generator hour restrictions although the restriction on light shows should be dusk to dawn.

I can't agree more with this. Many haven't grasped the concept of light pollution. Once the sun falls past the horizon, your music and lights should not extend beyond your site. This from the perspective of someone who usually just does state parks. Would be difficult in a packed in RV park.

That being said, I had to go apologize one morning to my neighbor because I accidentally left my LED awning light on all night. That thing is offensively bright.
