Walking on the roof

I have a 2010 297bhs. I dug up some specs and looks like I have a 3/8" plywood deck with 4 1/2" trusses under a rubber roof. Sounds like I can walk up there. Your thoughts

Chris

I walk on mine about 8 times a year. Cover- uncover, wash X2, inspect X2, caulk and touch up.

Walk on mine just about every time we go out - it may not be necessary, but I like to sweep off the slides before I retract them

I go up quite often to clean and inspect things. I'm 6'4 and 190lbs and it seems to hold the weight fine. I can feel the plywood flexing a little but I am very light footed while up there and always bare feet or socks to avoid punctures and tears from rocks in shoes.

... agreeing with SkyBound on the footwear. I asked an RV service technician years ago if there were any concerns with going on the roof. His response was make sure your shoes won't damage the roof and be careful not to fall off.

When I go on my roof I place a piece of 1/2 plywood where I am standing/working to help distribute my 180lbs evenly.

My current one has a curved roof...sorts sucks but we like it...sucks because we've always sit chairs up there for better viewing of races...with flat roof....views etc. not sure how it will work now. Anyway we never had any problems. Just placed old carpet down first.

My 264BH is rated for a 300 pound man on the roof. I put on rubber boots when cleaning and treating the roof twice a year - scheduled for tomorrow morning! Like said above I can feel the roof flexing a little but never any problem and I am 6-2, 233 pounds. To prevent edge damage I use a 10 foot step ladder and have better half holding it while I go up top - an extension ladder could very well damage the top edge leaned against the trailer.

I weigh in at over 300 lbs. I have no problem on the roof. Get a little flex and that's it. I think this just became a non-issue for most of you folks, so get up there and inspect and sweep away!
