Maybe a dumb question about turn signal bulb...

Ok, not my first rodeo with auto stuff and forgive me if i missed it (did a search), but i am feeling like i just inhaled crazy pills....

Turn signal bulb is burnt.
But i cannot get these assemblies cracked to change it?
Am i missing something stupid? I feel like i am at the point of just mangling them. And i am spending waaayyyyy too much time on getting these open...

Help is appreciated and a thousand bonus points for the correct answer....

Not positive, but I think the red lens is just a snap fit onto the base. Use a knife edge or something similar to pry between the lens and the base and see if that works.

Yeah, thats what i figured.
Have been doing that and am just chewing the plastic up with the edge. Looks like it may be siliconed or something. It is just taking way too much effort, feels like i am going to crack it.
Oh well, will just go for it and bomb into it. Just wondering if there was something else to it

That very well may be a sealed led type. I have them on the box of my delivery truck they don't open without a hammer if so. You buy a whole new light assembly and wire it up pop er back in and away you go all legal like.

Ha! Well, it didnt take a hammer but it did take me smashing into it. All sealed and the bulb is foamed into the socket.
Nice.
Oh well, a good lesson learned today

Is it an incandescent bulb? I'd think an LED might be sealed but strange that a bulb would be. Maybe some kind of "upgrade" by a previous owner? Can you post a pic of its innerds?

Lots of those in the truck parts world are sealed and need to be replaced as a unit. Units that open generally have the tabs visible.

Thats what I was going to say, replace the whole assembly. Their not much more than the cost of a bulb anyway. Your local Napa should have them or be able to get them overnight.

A little hard to make out but the plastic from the lens looked like it was almost "heat welded" to the bucket. And there is foam injected into the base of the bulb so it wont pull out...

Which TT do you own? I've not looked at our "new-ish" 5th and am wondering if my lights are like that.

Well not an LED but a sealed unit nonetheless. Pain that you have to buy a whole new one rather than a bulb
