Puzzling leak

We have a Jayco skylark that has developed a leak that comes down through the holes where the smoke detector is mounted. We ended up having to replace the smoke detector because of how wet it got. We had it in to our local dealer for warranty work to fix the leak just before our 2 year warranty ran out. They applied some sealant around the base of the TV antenna, that initially seemed to fix the leak, but this past week during a heavy downpour in Colorado, we once again had a wet smoke detector. I've checked the sealing the dealer did and it all looks good and there are no visible cracks, cuts or holes in the rubber roof, or plastic nose piece. All the sealant seems to be okay.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you locate and fix the leak?

Water travels in strange ways. Did he check the a/c gasket? Also it could be coming in through the gear assembly for the antenna they have been know to leak as well

I have a friend who owns a RV shop that does a air leakage test. He has a machine that seals up against a roof vent to draw air in to pressurize the inside of the RV and then he goes around and sprays a soapy solution on all the seams or roof to find the water leak. If you can find a way to pressurize yours and use a hand sprayer, it will make the leaks easier to find.

Have you snugged the A/C hold down bolts? There is a thread on this. It MIGHT be where your leak is coming from.

Water leaks are a pain to track down. How level is your TT? That may help you determine where the water is entering. Parents had a water leak for years that could not track down. Finally they found it. It was the hole for lubricating the antenna. A little lube and covered the small hole. In that case, when the water entered it traveled along the antenna wire and then dripped on the other side of the TT.
So, being you say it is at the smoke detector, which are always up in the ceiling and attached to a rafter, If you contact Jayco with your vin number you should be able to get the electrical and roof framing schematic and that should help determine where the water might be coming from.

Good Luck

If the rubber roof and seams are good...it must be where they cut the roof openings. Check antenna, A/C, roof vents, plumbing stacks and don't forget the clearance lights. I've seen many leaks originating from those cheap plastic lights. Good luck!

Skylarks have no roof mounted a/c they have a side mounted Heat pump/A/C.

Seals around the roof vent are fine. We get no leakage around the vents.

The travel trailer is level when the leak occurs.

Clearance lights and roof edge are all below the bottom of the interior ceiling.

We have a Jensen Mobile Omni-directional Wideband Antenna. See the photo. The screw hole and base were recently caulked with no visible holes or cracks.
