Stereo Speaker Upgrade

Has anyone done an interior speaker upgrade? I think I will need 6.5 inch speakers. Do I need to worry about depth, or are they pretty standard? Will better speakers be enough, or will I need an amp too? I want to get a little better response from the stereo without gutting the system, although the Clarion head unit that's in there now is junk in my opinion. It has never worked right. I should probably see about a warranty replacement if available.

Thanks a lot,

Jason

Already been discussed in this thread of old....

I didn't do any more than replace the speakers, no amp or stereo upgrade (yet) and its a significant improvement.

Thank you. My attempt to search didn't find what I needed. I tried!

For the price of some crummy Pioneer co-axials at Walmart, you can buy a quality pair of ceiling mount speakers on clearance at Audio Advisor. And they have a 5 year warranty.

Doesn't look like their frequency response is very good on the low end. I'll email them and see what they have to say.

Thanks!

Yes, you won't get a lot of low frequency output from a 6 1/2" ceiling speaker. It is what it is.

Here's my email to Parasound and their reply. They're honest.

Hello,

I'm looking for some speakers to replace the ones that came with my RV. They are 6.5" ceiling mounted speakers. I see your C-65 speakers and I want to love them but I see that the frequency response is 58 Hz- 22 kHz. When I compare that to some other brands the C-65 seems to be a little light in the low frequency range. I need something that will fill a large box (a motorhome) using the existing power that the current Clarion head unit provides. Can you explain how your speakers will do the job? I'll need 6 or more.

Hello Jason,

The C 65 are rated honestly (many aren’t).
That said there are a number of speakers that are built for cars, trucks and RVs that will give you stronger bass response in your RV.
One of the best brands is JL Audio. You might start there.

Bst rgds,
Richard
