$10,000 in hail damage to my 32bhds

That is what my insurance adjuster said. I was amazed.

The real ugly damage was to the rear of the trailer, with a bit on the side. I indicated to the adjuster that I was not particularly concerned about the side and that I was unsure whether to even get it repaired.

According to the rules in Manitoba however (which has government run insurance), either I get it all fixed or I have to pay to fix the sections I want to fix! So an easy decision on my part, pay my 500 deductible and get it all done. Sorry Manitoba taxpayers.

Hopefully the dealer (GNR camping) will do a good job, apparently they have a lot of experience with hail and replacing panels.

Cheers

When our 2009 32BHDS got hail damage in 2011, there was a little over $15k in damage. I didn't want every window, panel, vent, etc removed from the camper. I took the insurance money and paid it off. Don't like the dents, but for what we "paid" for the camper, I can live with dents which for the most part the only ones I can see are on the front.

I will post some pictures

Also, I would have loved to have taken the cash and not get the trailer totally fixed. Again, not an option in Manitoba.

Sometimes government is it's own worst enemy.

Another reason why I prefer the fiberglass exterior.

and that is a good thing IMO. The people who just take the cash and leave the damage I guess were not to concerned about it in the first place. The insurance companies in Canada will recoup the cost with your premiums over time anyway

Ensign,
Sorry to hear about your hail damage. Hope you can get it repaired soon, and don't loose too much of the camping season. I use to live in Nebraska, and had a cousin with an aluminum sided (SOB) trailer. He had to have his trailer skin replaced after a hail storm one year, and he lost most of the camping season. The really sad part was, the following year, he got caught in another hail storm, and ended up having to have it re-skinned a second time!

Hope you have better luck than he had!
