Slide Question

On our PDI the mechanic told us to avoid walking on the living room slide when
it was not extended. But that makes me wonder about sleeping on the bed if the bedroom slide is not extended, as in a Walmart. I sure don't need slide
problems brough on by me. Was the mechanic right?

We always keep the bedroom slide in unless we are in a campground and have never had a problem. The livingroom slide is a lot longer and possibly stepping on the edge of it may not be good. We have to move the livingroom/dinning room slide out just to get into that area.

We were warned not to step on the edge of the slide if the slide was not extended. We do sit at the table for lunch with the slide in when travelling but are careful about stepping anywhen close to the edge.

The dealer rep. On our PDI last August told us not to worry about using the furniture etc. When the slides are in. He said that they were designed to be used in or out. Now I am confused. What has everyone else heard? Better yet, what does Jayco recommend? BTW, this same dealer rep insisted that slide supports be used under the slides if they were going to be out for more than a day or two. I bought them and then read on another forum that I shouldn't be using them because they would damage the slide if a tire went down. They so stabalize the coach quite a bit, but I haven't used them again since I read the post. I am seeing a lot of people using them in CA. Thoughts?

I have been told by 3 different Jayco dealers that stabilizers under the slides are not only not needed but supposedly Jayco advises against using them. I have had 2 Jayco 5er's (soon to be 3) and leave mine slid out for about 9 months at a time and have never had any problems.

No slide jacks for us. I think the wind bouncing the trailer around would cause a seal problem. I want my trailer and slide to be one. We have four extra jacks under the frame to eliminate movement. There are close to 200 trailers and motorhomes in our park and I have only seen one set of jacks under a slide.

If you brought the slide in and forgot about the jacks , you may need a costly repair. I don't know this for sure but I wonder if this could be part of the reason as well. If the trailers are made to not need them, possibly the room wood be jimmied if that situation happened.

My dealer told me I could use the slide area when it is retracted just dont Jump (or anything else that silly) on it...

Slideout stabilizers are a GREAT way to ruin the alignment of the slideout.
