No Battery Operation?

Just had a crazy thought...

My battery is out for the Winter - at home on a maintainer. The campsite will soon be inaccessible due to snow. We will often go down for the day if the weather isn't to bad. Might have to park on the road and walk in.

Now, with the battery removed, if I fire up the generator and attach the shore cord, will the 12 v systems work? If so, we could go inside, turn on the furnace and spend the afternoon.

I honestly don't know for sure, but I would think your converter would power the 12v system. Nothing to lose by trying.

Yes, at least it works fine with my TT. I even called Progressive Dynamics to find out if it would harm the converter to power the trailer with AC power with the battery disconnected. They told me it would be no problem. The converter is designed to output enough DC for normal trailer operation without a battery connected.

Yes it will BUT make sure the battery cables are not touching the frame.. e.g. insulate them..

You may be in violation with STATE DOT REGULATIONS of moving your trailer down PUBLIC ROADWAYS without a BATTERY to operate your trailer brakes in the event of the trailer becoming disconnected from your truck when going down the road.

When the quick disconnect cable is pulled this uses the trailer battery to immediately apply the electric brakes on the trailer to stop it as soon as possible.

This could be a very expensive situation INSURANCE WISE if you are in violation of the DOT Regulation.

Just saying...

I don't think that'll be an issue, it sounds to me that his trailer is at a permanent site.
