Which Equal-i-zer WDH?

The towing combo is a 2010 Jayco JayFlight 26BH coupled to a 2007 Toyota Tacoma Off-Road TRD with towning-package. I believe the maximums of the Tacoma are 650-lbs at the tounge and 6500-lbs overall towing maximum. From what I can tell, my 26BH is withing specs of my truck's towing capacity. What sucks is that I really only need to get this unit 30-miles down the road, but don't have a WDH. I hate the thought of spending the $$$ for the WDH for a 1-time, short distance, trip.

Can you get a friend to tow it for you if it is a one time deal? How about the dealer? Cheaper then buying a hitch for one use. Will it be placed on a seasonal site?

YOu never know what options of camping oportunities you might have down the road. Spring for the WDH. It will pay off when it comes to those options of travel later

Ummmm.... MHO

BTW... just re-read your post.... if you reallly want to tow that combo.... my tt loaded without water is 6900ish lbs. Not that I'm a expert, but you may want to consider a tv upgrade before you tow the tt even a mile. Like Lee said above, can you get a friend to tow it until you get a new tv?

Call a towing service....most times they have trucks that have hitches and the trucks can handle the weight.

Just a straight/flat/level interstate for about 30-miles. It's to get the unit from the seasonal campground site to my home, where it will stay, until such time when it's sold.

.....All the more reason to have someone else tow it home with a capable TV.

Not to lose track of this, "if" I were to do this 1-time tow with my Tacoma, do you think I'd be able to get by with the 600/6000 Equalizer rather than the 1000/10,000 version?

To drive 30 miles is not a prob w/ur setup, even without, the fancy hitch, drive slow and ur trk would be just fine......SLOW is the operative word...this is assuming u r an experienced tow-er,and u will have the trailer brakes connected...

Absolutely, the electric brakes would be hooked-up and used. My biggest fear (and I haven't hook the camper to the truck as of yet) is how low the back-end of the truck will sag. I may need the WDH for that more than anything else. I'm really torn on what to do with this one. I don't want to spend the money for something I many only use once, but at the same time I don't want to throw all safety out the door either.

Thought your TT would have been towed to your permanent site by someone else by now

Oh, don't use this towing service located somewhere out of Missouri:

Anyway...., with a proper TV a 1,000lb rated WDH would be required at a minimum for the 26BH (ignore the dry/unloaded weights, even for your particular case). To just "get by" with any under rated WDH, even with a proper TV/TT combination, is asking for trouble.

No, not yet. If I did have to pull it, it wouldn't be until mid-November.

Is there a reason your worried about using a 600/6000 vs 1000/100000 they are pretty much the same price, or ought to be.

http://www.dyersonline.com/towing-au...n-hitches.html

This is where I got mine from them. There really is not a price jump until you get up to the 1400/14000 model Equalizer.
