Dinette with pedestal base

We have a 2014 WhiteHawk 30DSQB with a dinette table that's got the folding scissor style base( or legs)....it folds down for travel or if one wants to use the area for a bed....this all sits on the slideout area.....is it possible to change this dinette table to a pedestal base being that it sits on the slide??....any thoughts or opinions are appreciated.

We have the same issue in our Jayfeather 17C Export. Trying to use the table is painfull to say the least. We carry our table outside under the awning and use 1-2 tray tables with our u-dinette. It leaves way more room and we still have the table with us if we need an extra bed.

When looking at other 2014 models pictures and floor plans, like, the Jayflights, one will see the pedestal style base being used.....don't see why I couldn't change ours out....just concerned about the clearance with floor being a slide.

Overall, it is easy to do. With that said thou, it is in a slide out, so you MUST pay attention to how the floor is built, especially the thickness. From the picture a single leg looks as if it would work, but two legs will make it more stable. If it was me, I would unscrew the existing legs, and screw on the pedestal mount to the table, add the leg, and the base mount. Have someone hold the table in position while marking or screwing it in place.

If you want better access you could make the top slide and twist a little bit. We did this in an old TT which had two legs so it was easy and stable. We screwed a 1”x8”maybe 10” wide board to top pedistle a little longer than the span of the two legs. Then to the table top we added a couple of strips of wood on each side with a bit of gap to allow for movement. Then we added a piece of scrap flat stock metal maybe 11 gauge to capture the table in place. This allows the table to slide back and forth and a little twist to it. Then we added a piece of wood or some type of pegs (don’t recall) to limit the amount of travel the table could side in and out. Worked great! Here is a sketch of the idea.

How about an oval base like my end table, it's flat on the floor and won't inter fear with your feet.

Forgot to show you the underside and it's adjustable so it could still be lowered to the bed position when needed. If your like us we travel with it in the down position so this type of base might work for you and it would have no posts to store (ever).

Our Eagle has the pedestal table held down by four VERY short screws, as they cannot penetrate into the fixed floor below the slide floor. They pulled out on the first few bounces. We don't need them. The table is reasonably stable when parked, and DW places the couch pillows on the dining seats and scoots them against the table. We've never had the table fall over while traveling, and that includes our five miles of terrible rock road from the house to the highway.

Quahog installed a pedestal table in this thread: http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19477

He can probably tell you what length of screws he used to fasten the base to the slide floor. I would imagine the floor thickness would be the same across the WH line. Shoot him a PM.
