filling the inside dual tire

Hello all...

When trying to fill the inside dual tire on my rig, the extender just flexes and won't let me push hard enough on the chuck to get any air in. I was finally able to get a hold of the extender with needle nose vice-grips and hold it still long enough to get the air into the tire.

Would a solid extender be a solution? Is there any such thing, and if so, where would I get one?

Thanks!

Do a search for a Milton Truck Tire Inflator with Gauge. They are pricey, but the tire chuck is long enough to reach the inside valve stem without a stem extender. Also the built in gauge is very high quality and accurate. (0 to 100 psi I believe) You have probably seen these around tire dealers. LW

Go to always shiny wheels and rv. Just bought 5" solid.extenders with plug to stabilize them inside rim. Good prices.

A good commercial tire shop can replace your valve stems with metal ones bent to place the end in just the right spot. Unfortunately, this requires you to break the wheel down and unseat the tire. I had this done when my tires were recalled and I had to remove them anyways. It made a HUGE difference and I can now check air pressure in seconds rather than it being a big ordeal.

In the mean time, I found that the extender for the inner wheel did not have a "gator" cap on it. I put a gator cap on the extender and it made checking the pressure and adding air a little easier, hwever, you still feel like you need three hands.

Hope this helps.

Are you talking about a valve stem extender or an air chuck extender?

Before my deployment to Iraq my wife and I owned several 18 wheelers and I had some of the same problem when servicing our trucks. I went to the trailer dealers and bought a set of "Cat Eyes" for every set of duals. When you walk by you can easy see if the tires are properly inflated with out using a gauge. Best of all when you need air in either tire you just air up though a single valve stem. If you have a flat on one tire the other tire stays up. Best of all anyone can put these on it only takes a single bolt. Here is just one of many supplier I found on the web http://www.stengelbros.com
