New towing vehicle.
Well with the addition of a new child my wife needs to sell the 2011 Grand Cherokee and upgrade to something larger and figured we would get something that tow our TT as well. We were looking at 2011 Chevy surburans with the 5.3. Problem is we already have a 1500 with a 5.3. After some searching we found the 2010 escalade ESV havs a 6.2lV8 and 7700lb towing capacity. It gives us the room we need and seems like it would pull our 2015 white hawk 28DSBH which is 6000lbs dry. Does any use a escalade esv for towing? Not sure about the 22" wheels? Thanks

In theory the 22" wheels should work well for towing because they have short sidewalls and are fairly stiff. In practice I have no idea if its true. One concern I would have is the stress put on those tires and the cost of replacement.

I know a couple people towing with those... One is trying to get rid of it because of compounding problems, and the other because of the fuel economy. Yes, they have good power, but they are very thirsty even when not towing. How many people in your family? A lot of crew cab pick ups can comfortably seat 5, and even 6 in a pinch.

your TT has GVWR of 7500# which translates to a tongue weight of 900#
your escalade has a towing capacity of 7700# and a cargo capacity of 1442#.
at max gross weight, your escalade can tow the trailer with a reserve cargo capacity of 542#. The weight of your WD hitch, your wife, child and all the stuff you want to put in the escalade will quickly use up the rest of that reserve cargo capacity. So be careful.
If your tires/rims are rated for the vehicle max gross weight of 7200#, towing should be fine. for a simple calculation, look at the weight rating on one of your tires and wheels, then mulitiply by 4. if that number equals or exceeds 7200#, then you are fine. for a detailed review, you will have to compare tire/wheel rating to axle ratings for each axle on the escalade.

"If" the OP tows at TT GVWR and has a loaded tongue weight of 12% of the GVWR.
Most folks tow with a loaded tongue weight range of 13% to 15% of the TT's loaded weight..., based on a sampling of CAT scale results and what I have found with my Sherline scale.

at 15%, the tongue weight will be 1125#. This is the biggest trailer he should tow with that TV, AND he should be mindful of what stuff he puts in the TV, vice the TT.

Well I came to conclusion there is no happy medium. I went ahead and purchased a 2010 2500HD ltz crew cab short box 6.0l gas with 96k miles. That will haul the children and trailer. If we need to trade the jeep in we will just get something comfortable and use the truck as the primary towing vehicle.

(LOL) I bet you had to negotiate several contracts with OPEC to provide refueling logistics on your trip.

I was going to suggest an excursion with a 7.3. Should tow a bit and plenty of inside room for family. We pull our TT with a Tahoe right now and I think our TT is about as big as i'd tow with it.
