We take our table outside to make more floor space inside and have a place to set things on under the awning. That new design was a real pain to get through the door. Very bulky and clunky. And it wasn't as stable as the standard folding legs.

You know what?

We have the older style legs in our X23B and I thought I wanted the newer style table base. But after reading comments about it, I think I'll stay with what we have.

We have an '05 23B and absolutely love it. The table comes out in ours so we usually set it aside or fold it up completely and put it elsewhere (up against rear bunk). We have not had any issues stepping up on the dinette to get into bed.

We were pulling the X23B with an '02 GMC Envoy and it did a good job for the most part but limited us on where we could go. I felt comfortable climbing a 6% grade and made it to the top traveling about 35 MPH...... but there is no way I would dare take this to the mountains and try to climb a 9% grade with the Envoy. I've upgraded my tow vehicle since then and can't wait to get to the mountains!

Questions for X23B owners

We have a 2014 X23B and tow it with a 2013 F-150 EcoBoost engine, and it has no problem towing it up hills and mountains. We were originally planned to tow it with a 2002 Expedition V8 4.6L, however we decided truck would be less limiting.

The DW and I sleep on the front bunk, our kids sleep in the back, however we have the option to separate the and one child sleeps on the pull out. We also put down the table and put the cushions on top for movie nights.

I move our table by the sofa a nite. I love the u-shape and would never want a four top table. We have had 8 diners by pulling up the ottoman to sit on. The bench seat becomes a kneel/step. We only have someone sleep at the table bed rarely, and they've all been related to me so no worriers if I step on them! We do like to set up that "bed" for movie nights. The kids take the back bunk, "the cozy corner". We pull their curtain at night to give us privacy so we can play cards or watch tv., and they can sleep without our lights, same with coffee in the AM. Win win all around!

We tow our 23B with a 2001 tahoe and have no real issue. Some of the hills in pennsylvania can be a challenge (hill after hill) but as long as you're taking care of the car you won't have a problem. I agree that climbing over the dinette isn't the best situation but there are many more reasons to own a 23B then not to.

My mother-in-law joined us on our camping trip to Lancaster, PA this weekend. She stayed on the front bunk. All we did was turn the table sideways and she had not issues getting into an out of the bed during the night.

This is our second trip in the X23B and we love it! This is one great trailer and we are certainly happy we made this purchase!

Thanks everyone for the input on the 23B.

I think I've concluded that the U-shaped dinette in the 1007 PUP is a bigger pain than that of the X23B.

With the PUP, the table in front of the U-shaped dinette is a pedestal table where a 3' long post with swaged ends is used to connect the base on the floor to the table's underside. It can't be simply slid out of the way at bedtime like a folding table.

Leaning strongly toward a full-sized SUV or 1/2-ton truck if we go the X23B route. Maybe a Dodge Durango but that would be the lightest I'd try.

Have you considered the x23f? No dinette to crawl over, 3 bunks instead of two as well as the slide. We looked at the 23b and that was our biggest hang up plus we wanted an additional bed.

Thanks. I know my user name raising4daughters would lead on to believe we'd benefit from a 3rd bed, but our girls are 21, 20, 16, and 7. We bought our PUP just prior to the 2010 season, so we only had all 4 of them for a season or two. The two oldest are too busy with college, jobs, boyfriends, etc. to camp with us. This season, we took 3 trips....had the 16 y/o and friend twice with the 7 y/o and one trip with just the 7 y/o.

We'd much prefer the closet space the 23B offers to the 3rd bed of a 23F.

We have a 23b and removed the table all together. Just cut up a couple 14" wide x 1" thick x 51" length wood slats to fill in the table area when we need to make a 3rd bed. Slats tuck behind the couch so nothing in the way when you don't need them. The we bring 2 small plastic fold up tables (best purchase yet) that we use for eating or whatever. They fold up and fit in the small space between the couch and fridge when not in use. Keeps the camper much more open.

We upgraded from a pop up to an X23b this year and LOVE it! Back bunk is our young daughter's 'girls club' and we use the front bed. Had no problem with the dinette getting in the way during our two week long camp extravaganza. The dinette is such great seating for a family to dine indoors or play some games. At bedtime we'd just slide the table all the way over towards the door and there was plenty of room to get to the bed. Plus, the step up the dinette seating provides is quite nice. Our pop up had both a booth and U-shaped dinette in it. We just used the U-shaped dinette as our 'living room' seating. We tow our x23b with a 2005 GMC Envoy Denali.

Raising4, My DW and I strongly agree with your perception. We too owned a popup with the same dinette setup. Once we started looking at a full trailer we found the 2011 X23j, at a RV show. Weren't ready to buy at the time but by the 2012 RV show, the interior had changed. In the 2011 the dinette is on the side opposite the couch, where the kitchen is on the 23b. (if you google images of x23j you will see what we mean) We are much happier with this setup as it doesn't interfere with the bunk end. We consider ourselves very very lucky to have found this used model in 2013. Ironically enough, we are the third owner of this very well maintained unit.

Am in the process of signing papers on a 2015 x23b. Is 17k out the door a good price for a new model? Will be pulling with a 11 grand Cherokee with hemi and equalizer hitch. First TT for me been tents or pop ups my whole life. Haven't ordered the TT yet anything that is a must have with a 23b? Is the under belly a must? Also any crutial areas I want to double check on walk through?

The only area I didnt inspect on my 23B was the roof. Found out about 4 months later there was an existing hole in the roofing material. Easy repair but should have insisted that I see the roof.

After a night of stepping over someone sleeping on the dinette so that I could get to the bathroom, I made a new rule. The rear bunk is mine and nobody else can sleep there! The rear bunk is perfect. It gives just enough of an escape for the woman and I to get away from the chaos of the kids up front. And, as a person who gets frequent migraines I need that little bit of privacy when I need to lie down. Other than that I'm pretty happy with the X23B. I love the space that the dinette offers and the couch is very comfortable. The kids actually fight over who gets to sleep on it! Another thing I like is that you can see the TV from anywhere up front. The trailer has a very smartly designed floor plan that doesn't waste any space. And, it has a lot of storage for a hybrid. As for the tow vehicle, I have an F150 Ecoboost so I can't say how it would tow with a smaller vehicle. I will say that I am new to towing a trailer, and I definitely know that it's back there! Good luck!
Hi we have the F150 too We will be picking up our x23b in May. Spoke to a hitch place and he advised we don't need anti sway or load equalizer. Do you agree?
