Jayco Greyhawk carpet in the cab

Jayco installed residential carpet without heat shielding in the front cab of many E-450 based motorhomes including the Greyhawk and Redhawk. This carpet is not fire rated like automotive carpet is for direct installation over a heat source (engine in this case). For some customers (myself included) Jayco will remove the residential carpet and install heat insulation over the floor to prevent problems. If your motorhome has residential carpet installed (glued) directly to the metal floor in your motorhome you may wish to contact your dealer and have the carpet removed and have heat shielding installed.

Thanks for the info Im really not a fan of the carpet and would rather have the rubber mat that the 2015's come with.

Who pays? If this is a safety issue maybe Jayco?

I would imagine those of us outside the 2 year warranty will have to do this on our own dime?

It depends. if you have smelled smoke inside the cab or you can find scorch marks on the bottom of the carpet then you may have a case to make with Jayco. I would try it can't hurt.

I put some heat shield insulation UNDER the floor (on the underside of the rig.) Helps with heat and noise.

Msturtz, Just curious why did you trade your 2015 greyhawk for the Palazzio? Was there anything wrong with the Grayhawk. I was just quoted $61,100 for a brand new 2014 29ft Greyhawk. How does that price sound?
