If you are heading out there in the summer, it will be HOT! Was there in mid July once. It was 103+ degrees every day. Love that area, just not in the summer. I head out there every spring for 5 days of ATVing. Heading out in about 5 days in fact.
Plan any hikes for early morning and evenings, and do your driving around site seeing during the heat of the day. I don't know what a 4x4 tour costs, but there are some amazing things to see when you get back into the slick rock. If you rent your own 4x4, be very cautious as most of the four wheeling is pretty technical and can be very dangerous in that area if you aren't experienced.

This is our campsite this past 4th of July in Minnesota.
This is a centrally located campground near Lino Lake, MN. We choose this place so family and friends can join us.

I have owned my 2004 Jayco Jay Flight 27bh for almost a year (my kids and I lived in it briefly after moving back to OK from Alaska) but just now have been able to hit the road with it.

We went to robbers cave in Oklahoma for the 4th of July weekend. I had a friend in town visiting and he helped drive it down there for me. Showed me how to use and do everything. Then when it was time to go home I hooked it all back up, dumped the tanks and drove it home and parked it.
I had a small 13' 1957 Shasta before so I am familiar with towing just haven't towed anything this size or with actual plumbing and electric before.

We had a fantastic trip and everything worked as it should have. (After figuring out the awning).
