Delamination question

This question has probably been covered somewhere else in the forum, but is a delamination problem a factory fix or are there other options available? If covered elsewhere please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Kinda depends on the age of the camper, I am sorry to say. If it is within the 2 year, you have a credible claim for warranty. If not, there are options for delam repair.

OP, do a search and you will find enough info on this site about delamination.

I started using this several years ago. Made for airplanes. Bugs much easier to get off.

Took the 5er back to the dealer yesterday, they will put it into the shop Monday, and try to see what's going on. They sounded confident that it was a fix they could do at their shop. We'll see when they get it checked out.

My understanding with delamination is when it starts, its too late. I have talked with several people about this issue not only on Jayco RV's but others as well. The only corrective action that I was only aware of was replacement of the wall. Moisture is the enemy. Even if you could repair the delaminated section, what about the area around it that shows no delamination? By no means am I an expert in this area, I have only read and heard experiences about this issue from others. In the long term, it never turned out well. Like Hitch Pin said, BIG BUCKS TO REPAIR.

The bottom line is you MUST check all your roofing and window seals on a regular basis and take corrective action. Failure to do this would be a guarantee for water intrusion.

Make sure you get a pinless Moisture meter and take reading after a rainy day or during inspection of your TT. At Lowes for $40. A must.....

I had a Jayco rep. tell me not all delamination problems were do to Moisture, as in the case with my trailer. He said that the glue for some reason just lets go sometimes, he said it could be do to the sun or even stress. What ever the reason, it's a big problem to have.

Anyone know what adhesive that Jayco uses ? I plan on taking a plant tour this spring, it's on my list of questions to ask. Not always easy to adhere two dissimilar materials, fiberglass and aluminum. Expansion and contraction is also an issue. If they move at different rates, delamination is probable.

Heard from the dealer today. They removed the rear street side window and frame, and the outside corner molding. Found some evidence of water intrusion, but not bad, hope we caught it in time. 5er in the shop getting the outside fiberglass re-glued and clamped back together, will sit for at least 3-4 days for glue to cure. Dealer will re-install window with new seal and re-seal corner molding. Hopefully will fix the problem. Cost to run $300-$400. Will post more info after pickup this Sat.

they use some kind of urethane adhesive sprayed across the entire surface... it is supposed to be high quality runs on a 8 foot wide sprayer track
