Roof Vent Covers

Just trying to see if many others have installed these roof vent covers on there TT and if so which brand (does brand matter)? My 2015 Jayflight SLX 154 BH does not have any and if i keep the vent open rain can get in, dealer told me these are a must. I'm new to the RV World so any advice is appreciated
Thanks

I think mine are 'MaxAir'. They are the first thing I installed on my trailer. Vent can stay open for fresh air all the time with no rain issues.

I use MaxxAir II. Love them. Chose the II over originals because the II can hinge open after installation if you need to get to the vent for cleaning.

I think function is more important than brand, how ever MaxxAir are proven and with a few minutes web search they can be had about as low in cost as any.

Installation is DIY and took ~15-20 min per vent.

X2. I put a Maxxair II over my bathroom vent last week. ... works great. I left the went open after installation. It's rained twice since then with no water getting inside.

They attach to the vent frame, so your roof is not involved. All you do is drill 4 holes and use the supplied hardware. One suggestion: attach the brackets first and place it in position over the vent to see the final position. After installation, the brackets will hold the cover off the roof.

x3 on the MaxxAir II. I had the MaxxAir on the previous trailer and the II is far easier to access and clean.

The only reason the manuf doesn't include them during construction is to save a few $$'s in cost. To me its like sending out a new RV without a toilet seat [think they would if the toilets didn't come from the manuf without a seat]. You only have to go to bed once with the OEM vents open when it rains that nite to understand why the ventcovers are a must have. My feelings are the same for the "stink" fan that is included in the bathroom vent. Manuf should at least offer a fantastic fan as an accessory option in there premier package. These fan upgrades are also a must for what they provide to vent or cool your rv without A/C.

I have used MaxAirII on my current and previous TT's.

I installed a MaxxAir on the X23B and a MaxxAirII on the 5th. Both are excellent. Vents stay open almost 100% of the time. I discovered it's better to close the vent when the humidity is high.

I'm told some of the newer vents are marked for cover brackets installation. That would make the job easier than it already is. I'm curious to know if your 2015 has those marks.

I only have one roof vent and I bought a Camco vent cover from the dealer when we picked it up. We had vent covers on our previous TT and loved them. I installed the vent cover myself and it took about 20 minutes to do. Now that I know how to do it, I could knock it down to under 10 minutes installation.

I recently installed a Fantastic Vent fan. Did not put a cover over it since I don't intend to use it very much. There are basically two companies making these fans and vents. MaxxAir and Fantastic. Use the cover made by the brand of your fan. Got mine from CW and was going to let them install it, but upon discovering that their labor charge is $120 per hour decided to do it myself.

Plus they come in different colors, you can get smoked ones for bedroom vents to keep some light out.

X2 on Fantastic. I installed the Fantastic Fan and also the Fantastic Vent. Easy to take the vent off by pulling 4 locking pins. I pretty much leave the vent open and have had no rain or bug issues. Love the fan, especially the thermostat....keeps the TT at more constant temp and draws out kitchen smoke, odors, etc. when needed.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

I have the Camco vent covers because I got them at such a great price. Something like $5.99 each. The store was clearing out their RV stock. They were simple to install. No metter what brand or style you choose they are worth every penny on a rainy day.

Think you just went with a half baked cake. The fan is a wonderful add, and regardless of how often it is used, you need a vent cover. One reason is that while you are up there installing the fan, you add less than an hour to also install the vent cover. Vent cover will protect you if you forget and leave the fan/vent open and it rains. In anyregard, its not too late to finish this mod. but now you'll have to get the ladders out again.
