Couch Problems....looking for ideas

We ordered a new 27.5rlts in January and took delivery in March. When it arrived the couch/hide-a-bed was loose. The brackets holding it to the floor where broken and the screws had all pulled out of the plywood floor. The local dealer has made a couple attempts to fix this problem by manufactured new heavy duty brackets and installing them but has failed miserably. The couch rests flat on the floor but when you sit in it, you lean forward and it's pretty much so uncomfortable it's un-usable. Also, when the bed is open, it does not lay flat and has a couple inch dip in the center. Since the dealer can not fix it, we are looking for ideas and suggestions. Jayco just says take it to the local dealer.

Love the RV...

Wonder if there's a problem with your floor. Does the dealer talk with Jacyo? If so what is Jayco telling them? Any other Jayco dealers nearby?

Does not appear dealer has any communication with Jayco. We may never use the foldup bed, but it would be nice to sit on the couch without falling off. Wish we could find someone with the same model and get a photo of the mounts on a good working unit. All Jayco dealers within hundreds of miles are owned by the same new corporation.

Couch

Wow I don't see why your dealer would even try to fix it. We had trouble with one of our swivel chairs construction wise and the dealer ordered us a new one right away. We also had a small problem with our couch after a year with our old Jayco and the dealer ordered us a new one no problem. Your dealer should do the right thing tell them your not happy and if you get no results ID be letting everyone on the net no about it. Our dealer on Vancouver island has bent over backward helping us.

Howdy fellow camper , first of all jayco makes a great product , dont let these issues get to you. As far as the mounting of the couch i would suggest looking under the slide to see if and where the screws are at assuming its mounting to the floor if screws are pulling out maybe you could put a small block of wood on the under side to give it double strength to screw to, as far as the dip in the center of the couch when it folds out , they all have a dip in the center to some degree thx good luck

We love the RV. We have been "brand" loyal so far to the point of helping our daughter purchase a Jayco. Our real problem is the local dealer. It's the old story, once the check was signed, who are you again?? Nuff said.

Originally the couch was held to the floor with drywall screws. They all pulled right through the plywood. Also, the lightweight aluminum "L" brackets were all broken. After a number of tries, the dealer manufactured new brackets from very heavy weight aluminum. Stronger, but still fastened to the floor with bigger wood screws. Our fear is, the plywood floor is becoming full of holes and looking like cheesecake. At this point we have called off the dealer’s attempts to fix the problem while there is still some plywood floor left. We'll never be able to use the couch.

We're not sure how to look under the slide floor. It's sealed up tight with a single sheet of large vapor protecting material. Don't really want to cut into it.

You have several dealers to choose from in the Tampa area. Who are you using? Bates RV was very helpful with our first Jayco unit. We have since purchased two more Jayco units up in Georgia. Good luck with your quest.

Bates sold out to RVOne/Tampa RV. Jayco told us RVOne owns all Jayco dealerships in Florida. True/False??
