A slight tingling feeling as you lightly touch the surface, is a sure sign of stray currents.

Certainly looks like one of the other posts hit the nail on the head - leaky joint(s). No coating on back and chemical rain - shame on Jayco. Toyoda and Dodge had to clean up the corrosion problems.
I had the whole back wall replaced - lack of gasket/sealant.

I just read this thread again and was wondering about something that I missed originally. The OP says that the damage is on the slide-out wall and that he inspects the roof once a year. This may seem a stupid question but did he inspect the roof of the slide-out? I know there have been numerous problems with the "tape" that covers the outside seam on the slide-out roof being torn or out of place. I had to take my 5er in to have that piece redone due to it not being applied correctly. That may possibly be where a leak is coming from.

Since its out of warranty my fix would be cut out a 8x8" square to remove the bad metal, dry throughly (if damp) and screw/seal up a access cover over the spot/paint to match. I wouldnt buy a new unit if just cosmetic damage but thats just me.

This problem can also happen at the Awning attachment brackets on the left and right hand side. Water gets behind the screws and works it's way left and right in the back of the aluminum siding and run it's length. Check all windows,doors and edges twice a year. My friend uses a tooth brush to clean all these edges on his aluminum trailer looking for little pinhole leaks. I do the same on my fiberglass one as well.
