We towed our X17Z with the Honda Pilot. The 17Z weighed in at 3500 pounds. I woundn't tow anything more than the 17Z with the Pilot (rated at 4500 pounds). We used a WDH.

The Ridgeline is rated for 500 pounds more (5000 pounds). I would not feel safe towing an X23B with that truck, as the GVWR is 5000 for the X23B (100% of capacity). If you extrapolate, the most you should probably tow is 4000 pounds (80% rule).

That puts you into the neighborhood of the X19H. Yes, the X19H is rated for the same 5000 pounds GVWR as the 23B, but the trailer comes in at 700 pounds less than the X23B to start with. Our X23B starts at 4326 pounds unloaded!

Which WDH do you use?

I'm looking at the 4-point equal-i-zer...

Can't decide if I should get it as 600# tongue/6000# towing or 1000# tongue/10000# towing.

I know of another RL owner happy with the results using the 1K version. And per the hitch mfg, the 1K is good for 400#-1000# tongue weight.

IMO for a X23B under loaded conditions a WDH rated at 800lbs minimum would be an ideal choice. I believe that a WDH rated at 600lbs has the potential of being under rated if one doesn't monitor the X23B loaded tongue weight (we all have different loading habits).

Unfortunately, the equal-i-zer doesn't come in 800#...600# or 1000#

The Fastway e2 comes in 600#, 800#, 1000#

But the eqaul-i-zer has 4 point sway control and the e2 only 2 point.

My RL has a 600# max tongue weight w/o WDH. Since Honda doesn't recommend a WDH, they don't give a rating for max TW with WDH.

just go onto the Equal-i-zer web site and they have a section you can fill in the blanks and it will decide the hitch you need...easy as that
