A couple of maintenance questions.

I am just about to put my 2015 Jay-Flight 33 RLDS away for the winter. I've talked to a lot of people with travel trailers and I get some conflicting answers. Some say yes, some say no. Should I clean(wash) the roof of my trailer, and also what about the roof of my slides, should I wash them before I put them away for the winter. Please explain your answer. Tks in Advance.

yes...clean is always better. Maintaining the white roof will help reflect the suns heat. They can get black quite quick if you forget about them plus you should be up there 2 times a year checking seams and for cracks

I would rather do that on a clean roof

I do wash my slide roof a couple of times a year, mainly because of the fact that it is stored "inside" the TT, and helps in maintaining the slide seals.

I don't make it an annual event to wash the TT roof, but have washed it with a mild soap a couple of times in nines years and the roof still looks fine. If you elect to wash the roof, note that certain cleaners can compromise the roofing material membrane. Also, be careful walking/standing on the TT roof to avoid compromising seams and caulking around vents, skylights, etc., as caulk ages it drys out and can separate from its applied surface (surface flexing).

As mentioned, inspecting "all" roof and wall seams/caulking/sealer tape/seals should be done at least twice a year....., Jayco holds the owner responsible for this preventative maintenance task even while under warranty. Many slide roofs use a sealer tape to cover the outside edge trim edge/screws, watch for any signs of the tape edge lifting or the screw heads being exposed.

plus if you read your owners manual Jayco is telling you to clean it as part of your maintenance responsibility

Also make sure it is dry when you roll it up.

+1 above and it is in the manual that the roof inspection is required maintenance.
I may be the extreme here, but I get up there 3-4x's a year and clean it. It may look white but that gray builds up quick and once you start to clean it you notice how dirty it is. This is also subject to where you camped and where you store it.

Spic and Span granular is what is recommended and what I have found to work best. Be very careful as it gets slick in a hurry and with the new crowned roofs it's a little challenging sometimes. I use a car wash soft brush which does a nice job.

As for the slides I clean them, but found that with the toppers on the new unit I don't need to do it as often. You should also inspect your slide roofs once retracted to insure that there is not a build up on the inside. Pine needles and leaves can get under the seals and build up inside over time if you don't sweep before retracting.
