winterizing with inlet screen turned upside down

I saw an rv tech yesterday and he told me turn the inlet washer screen around the other way at the city water connection when I winterize my redhawk,I have never had to do this with my eagle before, all I have done is turn valves to winterize and never touch the washer screen, has anyone heard of this being done.Tech said pump would not suck antifreeze without this being done, any help would be appreciated

I have never turned mine around and it works just fine. You may have to hold the jug up a little to help it prime, that's about it.

Doesn't it seem that the screen would put pressure on the check valve???? Just my thought, I know I had a problem last year getting a prime.
