Rear tires inner edges wearing.

Timber, just to let you know, I spoke with Denise Shrock at Dexter service/warranty department and questioned the wall thickness on the same diameter D52 & D60 axles and she told me that the D60 was a heavier wall thickness than the D52 and asked me for my vin number and told me they replaced my D52 axle with another D52 assemble complete with springs and brakes and also replaced the two worn tires with new were shipped to my dealership doing the repairs but that Dexter did upgrade the wall thickness to the D60 axle but the spindles, brakes and springs are all still the D52 axle specs. I picked up my 5th wheel and brought it home and we are Happy Campers now again!!!

Glad everything worked out for you ! It's nice to see a manufacture step up to the plate and take care of a issue with their product !

Rear tires inner edges wearing.

Just to finish up this thread by telling you all that I asked my CW dealer if I could keep all the parts off my axle exchange Dexter warrantied, which was complete drum to drum & leaf springs and all and even replaced the two tires. After speaking with Dexter they said they only wanted the axle back to inspect it and said to have the dealer remove all the rest of the parts to save on shipping cost!!! When I spoke to my CW dealership doing the repair, when they spoke to Dexter they were told they didn't even want the axle back so I picked up the complete unit yesterday from the dealership and brought it home!!! I will be taking it to a truck shop where they can repair this axle to get the camber correct so the tire tracks evenly across the tread instead of just on the inner edges by putting more of a bow in the axle!!! Then I believe I will build a nice flat utility trailer approx. 8' long with 2"x 12" wooden deck with this axle under it will be able to safely carry up to 5,200 lbs. Thanks Dexter & Jayco!!!

Hey gutshot ....ww smiths is a tt not a fifth wheel as I have a 338 also ... as to the specs on the axles I believe what dexter has told you about the fact they send the axles for the specs Jayco gives them. When I did a tour of the plant I asked the factory rep why they had only 2 axles rated at 5200 lbs under my 338 which weighs in at 9400 empty and had only 900lbs or so of payload and if you fill the water tanks that takes 646 of that away and he told me the try to make the weight rating exactly what the trailer is meant to have which means towing the line on what is enough tire and axle underneath... its a legal thing with them. He said if they had axles and tires that could hold 12000 lbs under a tt that was gvwr 10500 and someone overloaded it then they could be liable. Myself I would rather have a little overkill than to have problems like the axle bending ... good to see dexter stepping up but I hope they are being reimbursed because I believe all in all it is Jayco who made the mistake not dexter. Makes you wonder if dexter has told Jayco they are supplying the bigger replacements lol
