Slide out noises?

The living room slide in our 26.5rls makes some noticeable clunking/grinding noises when the slide is being extended or retracted. This often occurs when the slide is in about the mid travel position. (This is not the ratcheting that occurs when the slide reaches the end of its Travel)
Our trailer when back to indiana once for slide issues already and was supposedly fixed??? I'm paranoid to say the least about how this slide works, and am wondering if this is normal or not?

Note: This is the type of slide with the two metal arms with gear racks on the bottom of them, and an electrically operated cylinder running parallel to one of the arms. The arms and cylinder are located under the slide and extend out of the frame.

Did it make this noise when you picked it up after being fixed?

I have the same basic RV that you have (except rear kitchen) and my slide has never made the sound you are describing mid-way through extending or retracting. I would contact Jayco about this. Was the dealer in Indiana or did you take it back to Jayco?

I've noticed the noise since we got our trailer back from a FACTORY repair. We're now on an extended travel vacation, and for the next few months this is our home. So??
We bought a new trailer so we could do an extended trip or two, without having to worry about problems. Ya Right!

We hav e a 2012 26.5 RLS and I haven't noticed that type of noise when extending or retracting our big slide like yours. We did have a problem with the wardrobe slide that took three trips to the dealer to get fixed.

IMO if it was a noise that started only after you have used it for awhile or after a repair then then it is not normal and should be fixed immediately.

If it is the same sounds you have heard from the very first day you bought it I would say perhaps it is normal but from what I gather it is a new noise correct?

Make sure your not overloading the slide with to much gear etc.

My 2014 Eagle Premier made bad sounds also and was told it was rough edges on the gears. (Didn't believe it.) A spray of silicone on the arms and rollers and some grease on the gear track and the noise went away.

My large slide has been noisy from day 1 and lubricating the arms, rollers, etc. didn't help. It has gotten quieter with time, and I've also found that the more level the TT (a quarter bubble makes a difference), the less noise it makes, but as we all know, it's not possible to get perfectly level all the time either.

All that said, I'm going to have the dealer take a look at it when I take the TT in for some other minor warranty work next month. Even if they don't do anything, I at least want it documented that I wanted it looked at.

I keep my slide arms clean and dry, spray down with a little silicone just about every time before I roll them in. I frequently clean mine with a spray tar and bug remover (diesel), then wipe it dry and spray with the silicone. We just got back from a 30 day trip out west and this kept my slides going in and out with no noise. I hate the supposedly dry lube that they sell, it gets gummed up pretty quickly, the diesel seems to clean all the gunk off and the silicone keeps it sliding well. That's just my two cents and my method.

I've put dry lube on the slide rails, and silicone on the rubber seals surrounding the slide.
Plus I put a coat of wax on the slide walls.
So far so good. the noises coming from the slide when extending or retracting have stopped. Hopefully if I keep up with the lube, the slide issues will be resolved.

I use dry lube on the racks and gears. Some creaking, and groaning is normal. Mechanical noises are very hard to describe, some are ok, some not, but you know when it's not normal or you don't know depending on how mechanical minded you are.
