First camping trip

We took our FW camping in Allegany State Park (NY) this weekend for the first time. It's only an hour from home so it was a good short trip to work out the bugs and figure out what we forgot to pack. First lesson is fill the fresh water tank on level ground. The spigot I stopped at in the park was on a pretty good incline and I only got about half a tank when the overflows started flowing. Second observation is that that we got a lot of condensation on the walls over night. It was cold out and we had the heater going with no windows open. should I be running a small dehumidifier in this situation? Any advice would be helpful. Other than that it towed well and was very comfortable.

Did you stay at the Red House or Quaker Area?

I camped at the Red House area a few years back and really enjoyed the park. As far as your condinsation I camped this past weekend and developed some on the windows but not on the walls. A dehumidifier I think would help if you have electricity but if not I would try cracking open a vent or window.

My 27.5bhs has the same issue with the fresh even on level ground. Talked with Jayco about it and they said it's a known issue (if it's known why hasn't it been fixed) and that the fix is to put shutoff valves on the overflow/vent tubes.... i've got a couple other issues the dealer is addressing and they said they'd address this also when i drop it off.

I keep my ceiling fan running and that helps keep the condensation down.

Ya I noticed that on mine when I filled it the first time. I shut the water off and the overflow was running for about a min which it should not happen

Don't know the reasoning behind it, but it isn't just Jayco rigs that have that same issue. I will be putting valves or caps on mine before I take it out again.

Whether it's a Jayco issue or not, it's a known issue as the mfgr stated to me. Fix it by rerouting the vents and/or putting shutoff valves.

Mine lasted longer. It drained 1/3 of the tank before stopping.

My overflows drained for about 3 or 4 minutes which made me think I was doing something wrong. I think I'm going to drain the tank completely and then fill with 5 gallon jugs so I can see exactly how much it can really hold. The spec sheet says 49 gallons. I'll let you know what I actually get.

This problem and various solutions are addressed in detail Search on the words "Fresh Water Tank Pukes"
Just remember that if you install shut off valves on your overflow tubes, you must keep them open while filling because Jayco does not always hook up the FW vent line when the tanks also have overflow tubes. Without a place for air to escape, you can inflate your tanks like a balloon...not a good result. Just turn off the overflow valves once you are full and they start venting water.
