Cracks in sidewalls of new tires

Bought a new 2010 Jay Feather 165 a year ago. Today, I went out to check the tire pressure and noticed some small cracks in the sidewalls of both tires.

The tires were covered all winter long with tire covers, so they weren't exposed to the elements at all. Duro is the manufacturer.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Is it just superficial or should I have the tires replaced?

I would not worry about it; my tow vehicle has had small cracks in the rubber since they were put on the vehicle and they are now three years old and no problems with them yet. These are Michelen Tires. I also saw a motorhome with brand new tires and these tires were Michelens as well and had the same small cracks. If they were covered and protected from the elements and UV, They are probably not dry-rotted. My brother took a set of Maxxis tires off his Fifth wheel because they had some small cracks; I put them on my low-boy trailer and have been using them for two years now hauling heavy and light loads with them with no problems yet. Of course if they are deep long cracks and signs of obvious dry rot then yes I would replace them.

I would say it is not normal or to be expected. Check out this thread on Duros

No way are small cracks in new tires expected. Replace them under warranty

My 17Z had cracked Duro tires on it on the dealers lot. They looked like something you see in a junk yard. The dealer put on a new set of tires before we completed the paperwork.

You paid for new/good equipment. I would go back to the dealer and get what I paid for.
