Question Slide Not Sealing

On Saturday, We picked up our new 2015 24FBS. During the delivery inspection, it was noted the slide would not seal tight against the wall when retracted ONLY on the upper left corner if you were to face the slide from outside. It sets off the side of the TT about 3/4" or so, the seals just barely touch the wall sealing surface. The Service manager said it may "settle in" during travel and the top is only held in by gravity. Is this true?

I did tell him I wanted it repaired and he made a comment the slide may need to be replaced. I was at the dealer yesterday picking up some items and mentioned this to the owner of the dealership. One of the service techs overheard my conversation and stated all it needed was an "adjustment".

Has anyone else experienced this slide situation? if so, what was done to correct it? I am trying to educate myself about this so I can go back and get it serviced and not be told to "keep an eye on it". winter is coming and I don't want any water leak issues.

I have been all over the internet trying to find the manufacturer of the slide trying to find troubleshooting guides. it's not a schwinteck slide I know that.

Thanks, Mark

Why didn't they adjust it before you arrived for the PDI and delivery? Somebody's not doing their job. It is probably one of Lippert Industries slide system.

If it's not a Schwintek (sp?), then it's a Lippert. No, that's not "normal", no it will not "settle in during travel" (LOL!), yes, it probably just needs to be adjusted. I would not take delivery of the unit until it is fixed.

If you have already taken delivery, get it back to them ASAP and demand that it be fixed. If you can't get satisfaction from your dealer, then a call to Jayco is most certainly warranted. A slide that far out of adjustment can be a serious problem, and it will definitely not get better on its own.

That's my opinion on what I would do if I were you...

Its my understanding that there is a good amount of adjustability in the slide. I would just take it back and have them adjust it and make sure you get paperwork noting the work done. They SHOULD be able to pull it in, it sounds like something just isn't lined up right.

Then, I would keep a REAL close eye on it for the next 23 months and bring it back immediately if there are any problems.

I got somewhat of the same line when I picked up my first camper with a slide but after 1.5 years I now know it was never right. Mine is currently back at the dealer and I hope getting fixed correctly. Get it back there as soon as possible and tell them to fx it correctly. If it isn't touching or pulling in tight it is a huge leak source and a massive potential problem. The only reason mine hasn't leaked yet has to do with the fact it uses a slide lock for transport and that pulled the slide in tight.
