New to TT camping - Generator with Surge Protector?

Hey All!

Should a surge/voltage proctector be used with a generator?

We're new to TT camping. Just picked up our Whitehawk 28DSBH this past Saturday. We plan to hit the campgrounds with full hook ups to get started so I'm looking at the portable surge guard (http://tweetys.com/portable-surge-gu...---30-amp.aspx). I have a Champion 3500 generator.

Wondering if I should/shouldn't use such a surge/voltage protector while on generator power?

I have the same generator and always use my surge protector with it. Friend of ours had the same generator also. They were running on the generator when the voltage regulator failed and burned up their microwave and tv. They were not using a surge protector but they do now.

I don't see anything in the specs for this Genset that looks like Sine wave regulators/ components, so I agree, I would use surge protector.

Thanks!

Thanks calliedog and Jmooney! I purchased the Surge Guard 34730 and ran it this weekend with the Champion generator and all worked great. I was also happy to see the 28dsbh didn't pull but approximately 15 amps running the Stereo, TV, AC, most lights on, both fridges, and a laptop/charger that pulls 1+ amps itself.
Thanks again and happy camping!
