While getting our 2010 29.5RKS ready for the first trip of the year I removed the 2 propane tanks to get them filled. I noticed wear on both tanks as if something was cutting into them. Upon inspection I found that the culprit was one of the mounting screws for the black band that secures the tanks during travel. The 2 mounting screws on the sides are recessed and do not contact the tank. The rear mounting screw for the band is not recessed and comes in contact with the back of the propane tank. The amount of wear on the tanks is quite alarming for the number of times the trailer has been used. ( Purchased as a left over in 2011 ) I have covered the screws with a piece of industrial grade roof rubber to protect the tanks in the future.
This is a very poor design, and should be addressed. I do not know if this is unique to our model trailer or all 5th wheels with one tank on each side, but it is worth investigating your trailer and tanks.
If it is still under warranty I would take it back to the dealer. Something isn't right.
