2015 Pinnacle 36 KPTS w/ Towmax "E" rated tires
Has anyone tried going from an "E" rated tire to a "G" rated tire using the same Jayco OEM rims? The E tire is a 10 ply and the G tire is a 14 ply... and they also require a higher pressure. I would like to move into the G rated tires, but, not sure what complications it may cause. Your thoughts and comments are appreciated.

When my dealer tried to swap my new G rated tires onto the stock Pinnacle rims with E rated tires the tire shop said the rims would not work. So they swapped rims and all including the spare

Thank you for your reply! I am wondering, when they swapped the rims, were you able to get comparable rims to the OEM rims? Also, do you have a ball park cost to do this? Thanks again for your help!

I had a 2008 Designer that I traded in on the Pinnacle. I had just replaced tie tires on the Designer a few months before the trade. I am sure there are rims available out there. I had seen where you can buy rims with the tires already mounted. I am sure someone else on this forum can point you to the website. Good luck!

My old rig was a 05 designer when I replaced the tires I went from D rated tires to E rated . I contacted Jayco before I did this to get their input and was told it was ok because the aluminum rims were rated for the psi that the E tires required . I am thinking that the psi rating of the rims has a lot to do with if you can or not . My suggestion would be to contact Jayco

Look on the inside of the rim and you should see the max pressure rating of the rim. Fortunately for me my rims are rated for 110psi max so I just upgraded from the E rated tires to G.

Thanks Edatlanta for this information...however, do you mean to look on the "backside, or the inside" of the rim? Our RV is in storage, so I can't look until we pick it up. This is maybe very good news, if our rims would be rated at 110 lbs. We also have the Cummins/Onan generator and a stackable washer and dryer, which adds weight. I installed the Tire Minder TPMS and really like it...

joggerman: I just replaced my 235x80r/16 LRe on my 2014 Pinnacle with 235x85R16 LRg using the original rims which the tire dealer said these woold handle the larger tires. After two blow outs on the kitchen slide out I had enough. The LR E tires are under rated for the weight of the trailer. the original tires had less than 5K miles on them

joggerman, My rims have the max pressure and load rating on the back side of the rim, not inside where you would have to remove the tire to see it. This info is an insert in the casting, not a sticker. I just crawled under the rig with a flashlight and a rag to wipe off accumulated crud to make it easier to read. I have heard some rims do have this info on the inside where tire removal would be required, but not mine as it turned out.

I'm interested in this subject as well because my 34RLTS has the same Tomax tires and I want to replace with the 235x85/16 also. I'm looking at Goodyear but some report bad luck with Goodyear. Any thoughts on brand?

My plan was to upgrade to G rated from E as well. The wheels were the limiting factor, being rated for 80 lbs max air pressure. I did settle on same size 235/80/16-10E tire. Went from Goodyear Marathon's, to Gladiator brand.

Does not Jayco offer an upgrade from the E to G rated tire? I'd hate to go directly from the dealer to the tire store "(
