I was always told to stay away from 2 stroke oil due to it building up ash,and trucks running a EGR system are recirculating that thru the engine and contaminating the oil,Is it true, not sure but owning quads and dirtbikes that were 2 stroke it seemed to burn fine in them, except when your mix was off and it smoked a bit.

Stanadyne,Diesel Kleen,Opti-lube,howes are all good additives. Each has there own claim but when it comes down to it they all do the same thing. I ran stanadyne in my duramax for a while then switched to Diesel Kleen.I don't notice anything being quieter but hopefully it lubricating like they say. Some say it helps with exhaust smells but I run 3' downpipe to a 4" straight pipe so nothing is gonna help with exhaust smells. .Its just like oil. I run Rotella T because a lot of OTR truckers run it and get a million miles out of there trucks, but others may like Amsoil, Mobil 1 and so forth.

I used to run Howe's every winter but started having some fuel gelling issues. Switched to Diesel Kleen and no more fuel gelling. I only run additive in the winter. Motor has 611,000 kms on the original injectors now.

i have used the Diesel kleen stuff in my ambulances for years, just started running it in my new to me 6.7 it seems to help it out and make it run smoother, it also gets pretty cold around here in the winter so i want to keep it from gelling

In my previous dodge, 2010 cummins, developed a very bad idle and running problem with some bad diesel fuel picked up in Louisiana. Not covered under warranty. Dlr said around $600 plus plus per bad injector. Was sick about it. Did some research on cummins forum and they recommended the CRC diesel additive. I added and had immediate improvement, not perfect though. I continued treating and within 3 tanks she was back to perfect. I picked up MPG and lots more power. I now treat at least every third tank.

Here is a link to a comprehensive unbiased study of fuel additives. Really good information. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/76-...y-results.html
